In Retrospect - Album of the Year 2002 - FINALS
« on: April 14, 2011, 07:33:21 PM »
Results from last round:

Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance (52)
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia (27)
Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane (25)
Agalloch - The Mantle (19)
Sigur Ros - ( ) (17)
dredg - El Cielo (10)
Opeth - Deliverance (8)
Symphony X - The Odyssey (5)
Audioslave - Audioslave (5)

I'm so crushed...PoS and Agalloch were leading PT up until the end  :'(
In Absentia isn't bad, hell I'd give it 4th place among those albums.

Dream Theater's last great album.

PT, though Remedy Lane is the best from that list.

Six Degrees, of course. I love In Absentia, but it's overrated.

Porcupine Tree.

Six Degrees isn't very good at all, especially compared to the other fantastic albums that were nominated.

That's strange: someone misspelled "Pain Of Salvation - Remedy Lane" as "Porcupine Tree - In Absentia."  Needs to be fixed so that I can properly vote

Otherwise I'll go with 6 Degrees...

Not a PT fan (and I have tried), and SDOIT is a stellar album anyway.

DT

In Absentia is in my lower tier of PT albums.

Also  :'( that Remedy Lane didn't make it.

Even though PT is one of my favorite bands, I'm going with DT because of the simple logic that 6DOIT is a top3 DT-album for me, meanwhile IA is very low on my PT-ranking.

This is a confusing line of thinking. :lol Surely it should be simply which of the albums you prefer, rather than which band you prefer or how high/low it sinks in your rankings for each band?

I went with Six Degrees.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.

Remedy Lane not being here is a joke.

Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Well true, but I'd say that I enjoy 6DOIT more then In Absentia, even though IA has some fantastic songs, overall it has never felt like an album to me.

Voted In Absentia, although really it's just the better collection of tracks (as opposed to cohesive album) Still, the better tracks on it are much better.
