I like his voice, but really, the song doesn't do a lot for me.  Could be a harder AB song, I hope there is a little more diversity on the album.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

He does likes his melodies. But even AB had a lot of diverse songs. I certain Mark chose this track for no other reason but for it being it single. From the people who went to the live performance preview last month, they said there are songs that you would have never expected, and the album is beyond expectations. I hope so! I'm digging this song though.

I'm liking it.

Seems like Tremonti never needed Stapp or Kennedy.

I thought the studio version was cool, but I enjoy the live version way more.  Mark's voice sounds much more raw and unprocessed.  I thought it was kick ass and I can't wait for more.

Woah woah woah, I know you're trying to compliment Tremonti, and you're right his voice is fine.....but Kennedy is necessary to AB.

You guys are too sensitive. I'm just saying he could have done fine on his own.

Doubtful. With all due to respect to Mark, the only reason this album will do as well as it will, is because he's the guitarist for Creed and Alterbridge. Had he started Creed (or AB) with him as the singer, the band would have been largely ignored.

I agree with him in the Stapp part, though. Mark I think was really overshadowed by Stapp in the Creed years and I think people started to hate Creed without knowing the sheer talent that was inside their guitarist. The only album where Mark really sounds like a great part in Creed is in My Own Prison, which in my opinion is their only good album. And Mark didn't really shine in Creed actually besides that album for me.

But that's beside the point. Myles is IMO really essential to AB.

Anyone else have The Sound and the Story DVD or watched it?

In the rhythm guitar section of the DVD he plays the "so you're afraid" breakdown riff. So I guess the idea happened awhile back  :metal
Its probably 3x faster on the DVD though then here:

Really like that preview.

My favourite so far is The Things I've Seen though - I only listened to it a few times when it came out since I really don't like to over listen to previews (or hear previews for every song), but I still ended up getting it stuck in my head and wanting to go back to it  :lol

Yea, it's the chromatic progression in the chours. I remember once reading that Hetfield was Tremonti's biggest influence.

Press Alert - Tremonti "All I Was" release (July 17th) set to coincide with debut live show! (Sold Out Show)

For Mark Tremonti, being in just two bands – Creed and Alter Bridge – wasn’t quite challenging enough. The guitarist, songwriter and now lead vocalist will debut his first solo disc titled ‘All I Was’ on July 17. The disc holds a handful of firsts for the masterful musician including first solo disc, and the first time he’s sung and recorded lead vocals.

With the first single ‘You Waste Your Time’ getting glowing reviews (and making our very own ‘Best Rock Songs of 2012 (So Far)‘ list), Tremonti recently announced the band’s first ever live gig. The show will take place in Mark’s hometown of Orlando, Fla., on the day the disc drops at The Social.

Tremonti and his band, featuring Eric Friedman on rhythm guitar, Garrett Whitlock on drums and Alter Bridge/Creed bandmate Brian Marshall filling in on bass, will play the entire ‘All I Was’ disc at the record release celebration. Also on tap for the evening is the creation of a video documenting the event that will include fan submitted content from their time at the show.

Throughout all of his projects, Tremonti has amassed a loyal following and now that following has an official name. ‘Army of 12’ is the online community created and run by Tremonti fans to help promote and support the solo disc throughout the world. Fans can join the cause by joining the Army of 12 facebook page here. We suspect it’s this small army that’s responsible for catapulting Tremonti and their first single into our Loudwire Cage Match Hall of Fame – nice work!

Right now, the Orlando record release show is the only one on the schedule for Tremonti but hopefully more will be added as scheduling allows.

Damn man I wish I was in Orlando... This seems like it is going to be such an intimate show and you could probably have a talk with the band as well. Have fun!

Oh and I couldn't resist and wanted to cover that new preview last night   :metal

New Way Out Preview

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RdfmVKkLMU&feature=g-all-u

Oh god. That was unexpected. I don't know what it was, but that sample struck a chord. Tremonti is such a talented songwriter. Able to write facemelting riffs, the bridges to his songs are top notch, and he is the fucking king of pensive and reflective songwriting. From what I got from that sample...."Here today, and gone tomorrow. Hope that there's just some other way out. Fighting too long to be the last to know.
I hope that there's just some other way out." And that solo...im telling you!

Im just counting the days for this album.

The album should def a be a rocker  :metal

I wish it was released tomorrow though instead of the 17th because most people (including me) are hearing it for the first time through that youtube channel.

I'm gonna make this short and sweet...

The show at The Social was awesome!  :metal  All the songs are killer, including the ballads. It was great being in a room that only held 500 people because the personal interaction with the band was fantastic. I got to meet Mark and Brian after the show, and they recognized me from a few AB shows in FL. I think my favorite song right now is "All I Was". I can't wait hear these songs again. Mark's capability to write songs and rip great riffs are uncanny. You all wont be disappointed with it. Rock album of the year, guaranteed.

New preview for "Giving Up"

https://youtu.be/dsLJZHSD4GE

The chorus is awesome!

Also, you can hear a few new tracks in the full length interview with Mark. It's an awesome interview giving insight on him, his solo stuff, and his other projects. They play songs like "Al I Was", which so far is my favorite track i've heard.

Can't wait for this.  I need some new music so badly.  I haven't listened to anything but You Waste Your Time, no other samples.   I am really looking forward to giving it a full listen.
