It's good. Still kinda hooked on the new Muse and Helloween, but when I get around to listening to it more I'm confident I'll like it as much as the first.

Ditto. I'm excited based on the reaction online from those who have already heard it!

Tomorrow is going to be a good day.  1st day of summer break, going to head to Best Buy, and buy it first thing in the morning.  I hear that version may have some bonus live tracks that they did in the studio when Brian Marshall was their touring bassist before Wolfgang joined the band.

Yep, this lives up to the hype.  Favorite album, I've heard this year. Though the other albums I've heard, while were pretty good-all right, I hadn't heard a really great album yet. Cauterize just became that 1st really great album I've heard of the year.  Enjoyed Radical Change, Cauterize, Fall Again, Sympathy, and Providence. My only gripes is that with 10 songs that lasted only like 50 min., it felt so short of an album that I wanted more damn it! Thankfully, there will be more when Dust comes out, probably next year. Until then, I shall keep listening to it and probably some songs will be more enjoyable on 2nd listens.

Wowzers!

Not until Arm Yourself do you hear anything remotely like AIW material. Then Dark Trip comes in and it's back to something I've never heard out of him before. The vocals are terrific. There are so many amazing, fresh melodies that I just can't believe this guy keeps doing what he's doing. It makes me look at the stale moments in AB history and wonder what was up. He found his stride again. Fortress then Cauterize. Mark T owns the rock world, even if some people don't know it yet.

Yep, my preorder arrived on Sunday and I've been enjoying this album for a couple of days.

I really love the title track Cauterize - heavy and fast yet so melodic, the catchiest chorus on the album for me, and the outro is one of my favourite parts of the entire album. I liked Radical Change well enough listening the first time, I had heard Flying Monkeys before, but it was by the time I reached the outro of Cauterize on first listen that was really wowed. Providence is epic too, I could see it being my favourite from the album in time, although right now I have to give that to Cauterize. I like all the songs on the album, it is a real evolution from All I Was too.

It does feel fairly short, but that makes sense since it's 10 songs and the other half of the double will be coming (hopefully) early next year. Mark Tremonti wanted to call this one Providence but changed it to Cauterize because people convinced him it'd be better to avoid the religious connotations of "Providence" after people thinking Creed was a Christian Rock band. Providence is the closer and Cauterize was his second choice for the title track and they are (right now) my favourite two songs, I am guessing the song Dust (the closer and title track) from the next album should be good :tup

His much improved singing voice is one of the stand out on this album, without a doubt. Especially on Providence. I will also echo Anguyen in saying this is the first great album I heard all year

I can't stop listening to Radical Change :metal

I guess some of the pre-orders have "Flying Monkies" instead of "Flying Monkeys" on the track list on the back of the case :lol

RuRoRul you should check yours! It could be a special collectors edition haha

Just checked, regular "y" spelling unfortunately :(

And yeah, easily the best album of the year so far for me, but though there have been some albums I liked there haven't really been any I would expect to compete with Tremonti for my favourite album of the year. First real test will likely be Symphony X's new album coming soon.

Just completed another listen. Providence is fucking epic, great to hear him doing songs like that with his solo band. Have to agree Mark's vocals have really stepped up, which makes sense after touring with All I Was. Providence and Fall Again are highlights in that regard, many strong moments on the album though.

This is fantastic! Great album from Mark and the boys, you can really hear the development of this group from All I Was.

Mark's voice has come so far, he really has become one of my favorite hard rock vocalists. Unreal stuff

I finished up this morning.  If anything, I liked the second half better than the first half.

This bears further research.

I'm starting to think Sympathy is his best ballad he's ever written in any of his catalogue. That chorus is infectious

You might be right. It's crazy how good that song is floating round on this metal soundtrack. Maybe only one song I'm not crazy about (Arm Yourself), and its still a kick ass song.

Just got my copy this weekend.  Sounds pretty standard Tremonti but only on my second listen, very strong though.

Sympathy is amazing.  Easy standard so far.

Radical Change and Cauterize are easily my top two favorite tracks on the record, but Dark Trip is warming up to me lately.

I'm still spinning this disc. Lots of great moments.

I gotta think about my top ten, but I'm in agreement with Osmosis that So You're Afraid is their best song

I still can't enjoy the sound of this album. It sounds very very mushed up, very compressed. My ears even get fatigued. A bit disappointed about this.

The drumming itself is the highlight of the album.

On that note,  here's an updated poster.  I think this was before the Jacksonville show was announced though.

LA show at the Roxy.  It's on a Monday, though.  Can't get out of school until like 6PM and I don't really want to take the day off, since I always feel like I'm on thin ice where if I do something like take an unneeded day off from school, things are going to go bad.

I'll probably mull it over during the next few weeks.
