I FEEL LIKE I'M LISTENING TO EVANESCENCE

Where's the good violin stuff? I might like that.

(I just keep remembering that I loathed Devin Townsend in the beginning and a single song converted me, so I'm not giving up.)

I've been listening to Enchant today.

It's really different compared to Opheliac - but I really like it too.

To be honest, I completely understand why people don't like Emilie Autumn. It's a really weird combination of music, and very uh... "angry girl" music.

But those same reasons are why I enjoy it, so each to their own. I listened to Opheliac so much that I also have kind of cooled down on her, but I still have her other albums to check out.  ;D

To be honest, I think this is the part that has the most to do with my distaste for it…I went through the “angry girl” phase, Hot Topic and morbid poetry and all. I eventually shed the Hot Topic shit, but the morbid poetry stayed behind…she reminds me of me too much, actually, and I think that’s a huge reason I don’t like her :lol

I used to write a lot of music during those times as well, and again—I swear I’m not trying to put myself up on a pedestal—her music reminds me of it. Not the technicality or talent, but the subject matter, the minor key tones, the lyrics. There was a time I loved anything that screamed “hate” and I guess I don’t want to go there now.

Like I said before, Cole showed her to me and I wasn’t “in the mood”…

Anyway. Now that you know my life story and all I’ll go back to listening to Devin Townsend with his comforting, meaningless lyrics.

I made a playlist of this stuff today and found that I like two songs of hers so fa: the Art of Suicide and Misery Loves Company.

Swallow is slowly growing on me as well. Nothing has made me go "WOW" but she's not bad.

You might try Enchant.  It's a lot less of angry, suicidal Emilie and more of classical, ethereal Emilie.

Listening to it now... I love it. I think learning more about her made me warm up to her music as well.

Thanks guys! I love new music.
