My friend and I are going, we are from Doncaster but decided to go to the Civic instead, might still end up at the Dome as well though :D

It's a nice venue, saw them there on the 8V tour, hopefully we will get the full stage show with the projectors etc. because I missed that at the Leeds '09 show. We are seated center balcony, back row, right in the center, can't wait!

Might be selling off one of my tickets soon, I haven't decided yet. The friend who was supposed to come with me has had to cancel because his Dad booked a holiday, without asking if he had other plans. Now I have the choice of taking one of my parents, who both like DT, or going on my own  :-\

Not quite sure what to do, but if there is anyone interested, its a center balcony, center of back row seat.

Matt

Thanks for letting me know. I'm looking forward to see these guys actually, I'm rather fond of their album 'Trinity', it's a nice mood setter full of intense guitaring and contagious hooks. Do you reckon LaBrie is going to appear with them? Can't wait!

I don't think I could have a better first post than to say I shall be at this gig! I shall also be a first timer. The fact that I live like 5 or 10 minutes from the venue makes it even sweeter  ;D
As a side note, I'm surprised so far this tour by the absence of the songs Mangini performed for his audition (ANTR,TDoE,TSCO). I thought those would be absolute definites for the tour, seeing as I remember them saying 'We could have performed those live to an audience without a problem' (or words to that effect).

Selling 2x stall standing tickets very cheap, can send the tickets via email (Print@Home-tickets) or we can meet up before the show outside the venue or something.

Like £15 per ticker or so is fine, just want to get rid of them

How are the queues for a Dream Theater gig, do people get there early and wait for the doors to open? I want to get up close for my first DT gig :)

Dear God. That was INCREDIBLE.   :hefdaddy The whole band was on fire, JLB especially! The chemistry between the band was just amazing, I can't remember which song it was, but whilst JR was playing he reached over to MM's drumkit and started tapping his cymbals!   ;D
Oh, and the setlist was the usual, but with METROPOLIS PT. 1 for encore, ooooohhhhhh yeeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.  :metal

Edit: I forgot to mention I was genuinely impressed by Eden's Curse, who I didn't know much of (Except No Holy Man). I was just hoping JLB would join them for No Holy Man, and they did play the song, but JLB didn't join them. Can't complain though, the guitarist was awesome! I don't know how he plays guitar left handed with the strings strung for a right handed guitar!

I'm stoked. First Dream Theater gig, and the best gig I've ever been to by far. It was seriously outstanding, the sound was perfect although the keys felt a bit quiet on some sections, but wow! It's boosted Endless Sacrifice to my top 5 that's for sure, LaBrie was pretty much flawless, Mangini was mind-blowing, Rudess was superb, Myungs hands were on fire, and Petrucci was God as usual.

I nearly cried on the calm guitar solo of TCoT, it was that good! I just wish nights like these could be repeated forever. :metal

Other than the outstanding performance, Eden's Curse were great! To be honest, a surprising opener with some really uplifting songs, got me singing along to a few. The guitarist was also out of this world, and I met him after the gig, he's a really cool guy.

The crowd were on and off I suppose, some songs everyone was chanting along and showing flawless support, other songs towards the end they seemed to calmed down and the atmosphere kind of dropped, but DT were just incredible.

Brilliant gig, can't wait to see some videos :D

Just got back to the hotel and what can I say. The band were on fire, James was better than ever, I was floored by Manginis drumming.....the whole performance from all members was phenomenal. The guys were very cool hanging around with some of us fans before they boarded the coach too, signing things and having photographs. It goes without saying how friendly and humble all of the guys are, but Mike is just great, so appreciative, friendly an funny :P

I recorded the whole show with my zoom h1, just needs splitting into tracks, EQing etc. I also filmed otboa, metropolis, the drum solo and various other parts and took plenty of photos, all of which I'll compile as soon as I can.

Overall a fantastic show, 3rd time I've seen them and they still amaze me. Second time I met Jp jlb JR and jm too, although this time it wasnt as intimate.

I didn't catch what they were doing it for. But they just aked me whats most inspirational about Dream Theater, favourite album, and who's the most inspirational member of the band.

I just said their ability to make a diverse range of music and how unique they are, SFAM is my favourite album, and JMX is the most inspirational member because he got me into playing bass. :metal

I thought James' speech was great, he's a funny guy!
JLB: It's great to do shows like this, getting intimate with our fans
Fans: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
JLB: But... Not in that way...

DT @ Wolverhampton, UK 23/07/2011 - What A Night !!

WHAT A NIGHT. Well worth the 450 mile round trip, the road diversions, the tiredness and the lack of food, That was one of the tightest (IMHO) that I have seen the boys in years...That was totally worth every second of pain to see this magical night.

Being a drummer also, sitting on the right balcony last night was truely awsome. Seeing Mike enjoying himself so much reminded me of when I had the honor to meet with him at Berklee a couple of years ago. He truely is a very nice and humble guy, and when I saw him getting the adulation of the crowd and seeing him keep saying "WOW" just underlined what a fantastic choice the band have made in choosing Mike Mangini.

As for the rest of the band, totally out of this world. The best gig of any sort I have seen in many years, and credit to the crowd for their part in the experience. I have to note that several people I talked to were at their first DT gig, and by watching them enjoying the experience I dare say it won't be the last.

I cannot wait now for the World tour (whenever they get to the UK, US fans you will NOT be disappointed !!).

Finally to John, THANK YOU keeping things together and THANK YOU for taking the band to the next stage of it's evolution and THANK YOU for keeping the Dream Alive...
