iphone question
« on: March 30, 2011, 07:54:35 PM »
I got a new computer... will I lose all my information if I hook up my iphone to update and stuff?  I REALLY want to add some new music and ringtones to it, and the program really needs to be updated, since it hasn't been updated since like June lol

I don't think so / see why it would.

Just make sure that Itunes has "update manually" checked or whatever it is. Or "Sync Manually", something manually.

It's Apple. I've seen so many horror stories of people simply plugging their iPod/iPhone into their computer and losing everything.

one thing you can do to be sure is back up your itunes folder, with XML file and everything from your old computer. Install itunes on your new computer and then replace that whole folder with your old folder. Or if you don't want to replace it just tell itunes where to read the library from in the prefs. This is how it works on macs and i would imagine it's the same on pc's (Not tested though.) Maybe someone with a pc can chime in on that but i don't see why it would be different. That is if you are using a PC, don't think you specified.

*raises hand*

Not using Apple for this reason.

I can't speak for iPhones, but for iPod and iPod touch ALWAYS select manual options, its the best way of preventing shit from happening.
