What's your happy thought?
« on: March 29, 2011, 12:20:31 AM »
My cousin (19) had never seen Hook, so my best friend and I found a DVD and made her watch it (of course she loved it). However, I guess the story of us watching it isn't really the point of this thread...

Throughout the course of the movie, there were several times where Peter smiled or chuckled and was "happy" as far as the general definition goes. That being said, he couldn't actually fly until he realized what defined his happiness - what gave his life meaning: his fatherhood. Taking that into consideration, what would you think of that would enable flight for you?

I think mine would be my mother or my best friend. Thinking of either would probably get me off the ground.
Listen! Do you smell something?

The nine members of the Fellowship marching up the hill while the theme music plays.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. honestly... besides my girlfriend, it would have to be thinking about music as well. DT. That's what get's my patronus juices flowing
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Spending time with my dad when I was little. Fishing, kicking ball, going for bike rides. Happy times...

A couple of vacations and trips I took a few years ago. Whenever I feel down I think of those trips and they always bring a smile to my face.

Also a couple of memories from when I was in school.

My wife and son (and second unborn child). They're visiting family and I don't get to see them for a week. It's killing me, I miss them so much.

To crush my enemies, to see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I fucking love you Hef.

For me, when my kid was three, we took her to her first movie, Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame.  She loved it, and in the ensuing months, aquired every Hunckback toy out there, the action figures, the playsets, the church itself.  One night, around 11 o-clock, my ex and I heard some noise while sleeping.  We went to Alora's room and peeked in.  In the pitch darkness, she is sitting in front of the castle, action figure in each hand, acting out a scene from the movie.  That was hands down the greatest moment of my life, and I know nothing willl ever top it.

Yep, when my ex was in her eighth month, we were still arguing over a name, and were watching the movie Willow.  The baby that was to be the savior of the world in the movie was Alora Dannon, and when they first said the name , my ex and I looked at each other and just nodded.

Yep, replace son with daughter, and it pretty much sums up my reason for living.
