Baboon sentenced to death.
« on: March 28, 2011, 10:34:04 AM »
This article kind of rubs me the wrong way. Kind of makes me sad and makes me lose faith in humanity a little bit more.

What does this have to do with your faith in humanity?

I love animals and everything, but the baboons reportedly hurt three people in the past, so im sure that played majorly into the decision. Plus if he's showing signs of elevated aggression, its very possible that this it could start endangering the public, as it seems he already was.

Because we pick the solution to kill it. There are plenty of primate reserves and zoos around the world that it could be sent to. If it is problem there, then fine, do whatever. But don't just kill it because tourists want to rape it's habitat.

You would hope they considered the possibilities. I mean, can you take a baboon that's been living from scavenging from people and roaming freely and just plant it in a zoo? Would it be able to take it?

More than likely. Especially if finding food is it's motive for looting. If you feed it without it having to put in any effort at all, it would probably mellow out. Initially it would be uneasy being in there, but being around other's of it's kind should help. It would certainly take time for it to adjust, but certainly not impossible. I mean, not every monkey in a zoo has been there since birth. Many of them were found injured or rescued from exotic pet owners.

I ain´t seen the sun since I don´t know when
The freaks come out at nine
And it´s twenty to ten
What´s this funk
That you call junk
To me it´s just..............
Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Happy Lives to you all.

There are so many Baboons on death row now already. With all the legal appeals, and red tape, he will die of old age before he ever gets put to death. Relax.

But don't just kill it because tourists want to rape it's habitat.

I'm very confused by how these two statements connect. How is killing it any different than sending it away as far as 'raping its habitat' is concerned?

I mean, I agree, finding a new place for it would be ideal, but just because it's going to be killed doesn't mean they didn't try. Finding a new home for it means ensuring it won't come to harm there, that it won't harm others there (a major concern considering that it hospitalized two people), and that the place can actually take care of it. I have a feeling most zoos and reserves aren't looking to or able to take on new animals considering the state of the economy right now.

Killing it is cheaper than finding a new home and transporting it. Choice easily made.

What is that??? I remember watching that show as a kid but I can't remember what he's called...
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.
