I'm surprised that this hasn't been posted yet, but I wanted to post it because my friend John was actually quoted in this article.

Alrighty then.

Seriously, these anti-gay things piss me off. They choose to be that way, so what right does anyone have to bring it upon themselves to carry out "gods will" and change that? Anyways, I'm not a religious man, but I don't recall hearing that god hates gay people. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Wait, who chooses to be what way?

Certainly you don't mean gay people choose to be gay.

When it comes to this particular discussion, and the point he was making, I don't think it really matters which one he meant.

I'm just saying, his point was that people shouldn't be trying to change them because they're gay. I don't think he was trying to make any kind of statement about whether gays "choose" to be that way or not.

Gay people don't choose to listen to The Cure, it's part of their nature.

you should never fall for these gay cure news anyway, there are extensive animal tests you have to do to even reach human trials, and even then, it more often than not doesn't work.

I know there have been extensive tests done on animals by cosmetics companies.  Maybe they are trying to make a straight cure.
Oh shit, you're right!

Eh, on one hand, I can't fault Apple for protecting its business and wanting to avoid negative press by taking the easiest route and responding to the complaint by simply pulling the app.  On the other hand, with as many apps as there are out there, there is likely something in the marketplace to equally offend anybody, and it's a shame to see gay rights groups use bullying to get their message across rather than taking the high road of, "if it offends you, just don't download it."

Well, they've pulled other apps before, like the boob shaker app (you shake the phone, and the boobs on the screen wobble).

Yeah, I think they get more negative press for allowing only Steve Jobs approved apps on the market.  It's interesting to see the two approaches compete.  Android market is open and Apple's is closed.  It's one of the primary reasons I went with Android.  It might well be the case that not censoring the marketplace is actually a stronger defense of their business.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

Yeah, it's a tough call, and I can understand them doing what they did.  I assume the model is something like, "If it's borderline, put it out there, and if someone complains loudly enough that we'll look bad if we don't do something, we'll pull it without hesitation."  I get it, and I don't disagree, in principle.  It's just  interesting to see where the lines ultimately get drawn when issues like this come up.
