Just saw an article that the sales of doomsday shelters is skyrocketing. This made me me think for a minute... would I want to survive an event that killed the vast majority of humanity? Life would be immensly more difficult, I'd have lost most if not all of my loved ones... that just doesn't sound like a situation I'd like to be alive in. I'm not so scared of death that I wouldn't want to die alongside everyone else that I knew. The only way I'd want to is if my wife and children survived with me.

I saw that article too. Wonder where one buy's a Doomsday Shelter. Costco? Amazon.com?

The only situation I can think of where I would not want to survive would be if there was some sort of radiation/fallout that would slowly kill the remaining survivors/flora/fauna. If there were no major adverse affects in the post-Doomsday world, I feel confident I’d want to survive.

I'd want to survive. It'd be so quiet. As long as there's still food and water and the air isn't a mess of radiation (a la Fallout 3), I'd be down.

I do not have a shelter but have taken precautions to give my family and I a good shot in the aftermath of a catastrophe. I live relatively close to the New Madrid fault line which by most predictions WILL provide a rather large earthquake in the near future. So I do have large quantities of water stored that I do rotate, enough food for us to live off for two weeks (and am on the verge of purchasing a 6 month food supply of MRE's, just gotta save a couple more bucks) and we have countless articles of outdoor equipment from when we camp all the time.
  I am not a militant person but I also have a pretty good supply of ammo for the weapons I do own and in the case of a massive collapse of society or something like that where civility was not common place...I have to say that even though I don't view myself as a 'killer' or 'evil' man...if my boys or wife...or I for that matter were being threatened and our well being was being put in jeopardy by someone trying to 'steal' our supplies, I think that I'd answer the call of duty to them as a father and husband.

I'd definitely want to survive and I'd do my best to keep my loved ones alive as well. I guess it just seems like a new adventure or an exciting opportunity? XD
