1. Ulver - Perdition City
2. GY!BE -  Lift your Skinny Fists
3. Radiohead - Kid A
4. Bohren & der Club of Gore - Sunset Mission
5. Chroma Key - You Go Now

all those albums are amazing.
on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

DTVT,
Just wondering, the EotY Poll Nick runs, allows everyone to nominate not 5, but 10 albums. Is there a reason why these polls are limited to just 5?

My guess is it streamlines it for him.

Ah most of my picks are gonna be the ones i was listening to my middle school years

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Coldplay - Parachutes
Radiohead - Kid A
U2 - All That You Can't Leave Behind
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

I was gonna put Shaggy - Hot Shot as my option, but Radiohead Kid A was released that year

alright, well. I guess the results of this/these polls can be taken with a bit of a grain of salt.

That being said, here's my list of 5 nominations.

Call Florence Pow - These Are the Plans...
Fates Warning - Disconnected
Kevin Gilbert - The Shaming of the True
Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element I
Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun

wasn't 2000 the year the the steel was reinvented? no pantera love on this forum (not that it would for sure be making my list, just surprised it's on no one's list).

That wouldn't even make my top 10, but yes, that was 2000.

it's kinda weird. i was definitely disappointed in RTS when it came out, but for the past several years, if i ever get the itch to spin some pantera, its usually RTS (or perhaps TGST) i reach for.

page 1 starting with Kevin Gilbert - The Shaming of the True
page 2 ending with Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element I

only 35 proper all-new studio albums in my collection; either 2000 was a really thin year for music, or I have a lot of cataloging left to do for that year.

cool that them 2 JUST missed your top 5 (i always suspect that many people don't really know about a sceptic's universe). i'm thinking we would have very similar top 10 lists from that year (and similar tastes in music).

sorry i was too lazy to edit (not that its exactly much more effort). i realize the multiple posts irk some people.

Wow, this was a slow year.

I'm sorry but I have to respectfully disagree with you big time here. Those albums weren't that good (in my opinion of course) while there were much better albums that came out that you didn't mention here.

Some examples.

Presidents of the United States of America - Lump
HIM - Razorblade Romance
Disturbed - The Sickness
Ying Yang Twins - Thug Walkin'
Ayreon - Universal Migrator Part 1: The Dream Sequencer
Ayreon - Universal Migrator Part 2: Flight of the Migrator
Edguy - The Savage Poetry

Among others, of course
space cadet, pull out.
