So I'm keeping up with results by the day I get all the submissions. Hopefully I'll be able to keep that up, though it is a lot of writing. I'm glad I brought more in, though. The variety I got in this round was fantastic!
SoundscapeMN - Apes and Androids - Johny and Sarah - 7 points
https://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/Johnny+and+Sarah/PJDCc?src=5THIS is what I was looking for. Energetic, loud, raw, and lively. The vocals were raw and aggressive, and the harmonies were great. The song had a really fun drive to it. The production was perfect for this kind of song, and it had plenty of changes to keep it interesting. I usually don't like sheddy guitar solos unless they're done right, but this one was, and it ended up adding to the aggressive and rocking nature of the song quite well.
KingShmengland - People In Planes - Barracuda - 6 points
https://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/Barracuda/3AkeNE?src=5Through most of it, I was thinking, "this is a really cool song!" The heavy grooves were awesome. The overall groove was very nice, too. Then, near the end, the song got a whole lot better, even. The intensity increased until it was a clash of guitars and synths and drums, which was lovely. That part alone was reason enough for the high score for this song!
Sonatafanica - Anamanaguchi - Airbrushed - 6 points
https://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/Airbrushed/31roUR?src=5This is one of the submissions that really had what I was looking for. The combination of rock instruments and chiptune really worked well, and it was very energetic and lively. I could see myself listening to this whenever I need to be in an energetic, happier mood.
Gorille - Stolen Babies- Splatter - 5 points
https://www.myspace.com/stolenbabiesNice! I was wondering when the song began at slow midtempo rhythm, but the sudden, random punctuations of guitar and drums quickly erased all doubt that this would be an awesome song. The song was full of creepy and eery energy throughout, and the vocals were very cool and different. One melody in particular was very strong, the one near the end. Awesome!
Marvellous G - Harald Waiglein - The Human Pump - 5 points
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w14vV7bnWa0I really appreciate the risk you took here, and I ended up liking the song quite a lot! The rawness of the voice and the general unpolished nature of the singer was perfect. My only complaint was that the chorus melody didn't quite grab me in the same way that the verses did, but the vocals in the end were pretty awesome and made up for it. Great submission!
Lielow - Harmonium - Dixie - 4 points
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sL1ICG2_UBkThough the song started off slow, it quickly picked up and found it's way into a fun and folkish groove. The song was mostly just that, fun. I enjoyed how well all of the instruments played together. This was an awesome interpretation of the theme, and I'm already trying to learn to play the piano parts, because they are awesome! It didn't quite embody the energetic and raw feel that I was looking for, but it was still very fun!
TheVoxyn - Nation - Nemesis - 4 points
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAMu8EIOVIwAs I said, I would take any genre for this round, and I liked your choice of electronic music very much! And this song was quite the adrenaline rush! The driving rhythms and synth made for a nice backing to the vocals, which were not incredibly talented but fit well. The main motif is very catchy.
Sneakyblueberry - SiKTh - Flogging The Horses - 3 points
https://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/Flogging+The+Horses/2M8BDU?src=5I liked it. The energy was definitely there in an angry sense. This kind of song isn't usually my kind of thing, and the vocals were a bit overdone, but they fit with the kind of music. I usually find this kind of music obnoxious, and to be honest I still did, a bit, but this was much better in terms of this kind of thing.
Jsem - Rainbow - Starstruck - 3 points
https://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/Starstruck/2C39vK?src=5Kind of a standard submission, but I enjoyed it. The classic hard rock style fit alright in terms of the round theme, and the guy could sing, of course. The song is definitely nothing particularly exciting or different in it's field, but it is pretty fun all of the same.
Finntroll - Fiskarens fiende - 2 points
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CBmlXewMTYThis was cheesy as hell but I still enjoyed it to an extent. The Finnish folk melodies coupled with the heavy elements were interesting enough, and the little marching, martial break was pretty cool too. The song didn't really go anywhere exciting, though. And the cheese.
Letters - Meshuggah - Combustion - 1 point
https://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/Combustion/2C5AQw?src=5To be fair to the song, I must say that in the style that it is going for it is well done. There's no denying that. I'm just not really one for the slick-production technical metal kind of thing that this is. It's just really not my type of thing, even thought I can see exactly how others would love it and it is well done.
