This album is going to be genius!

I hope it sounds better than these samples, though. Considering Jens Brogren mastered - who did a good job with the last couple of albums - and Steven Wilson mixed it, I don't think it will sound bad in high quality.

it definitely won't sound like that. The sample of The Devil's Orchard sounds terrible from it's sample on that page, but good on the RR's Youtube page

Based on those samples, Slither sounds absolutely kick-fucking-ass. If that whole song holds out as awesome as the sample, it might be some of the coolest, most refreshing sounding 4 minutes Opeth has done their whole career.

I'm cool with other folks talking about it but A) I don't wanna have anything spoiled by accidentally reading about it and B) this thread may get overrun with leak talk (I think there may be a forum rule against leak speak but I'm not sure) to the extent that any other Opeth conversation may be few and far between.

No, it is for all stuff, but it usually isn't enforced for non-DT stuff. It wasn't when Devin Townsend's last two DTP albums leaked in the late spring. Not sure I'd risk it, but if you do, definitely put it all in small text, so as not to spoil it for those of us who are gonna wait.

There might be twists and turns that you don't see coming, and that can be cool as hell on a first listen, but if you have already read about them, then you are already know they are coming.

For example, the ragtime bit in DT's The Dance of Eternity is something no one saw coming when Scenes came out, but if you had read about it beforehand, that moment of "Holy shit, this is ragtime in a Dream Theater song!" would have been lost.

is correct. The reason it wasn't enforced for Devin was because Devy himself spoke out saying that he was happy for people to get it in advance if they wanted to, he just wanted to get his music out there as much as possible. For everything else, no discussion of leaks, although talking about the material itself is generally fine (apart from DT, obviously).
