I agree that it looks a little cooler without the heads, but I don't think it looks bad with the heads and still don't get what the problem with the heads is. I guess sometimes a band just wants to put themselves on their album cover? That used to be the standard back in the day, I'm pretty sure every Beatles album cover had their heads on it in one form of another, just to name one band.

Yeah, fusion bands especially often put their faces on their covers back in the 70s and 80s. The Opeth one kinda reminds me of a dark Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy by Return to Forever.

I am not one of those haters and I usually look at almost everything with an open mind but I am not a fan of this cover.

Don't get me wrong, I am still very excited for this album but DAMN...

However, Mikael did say that the album will raise some eye brows which it did for me already. I also don't really get why the heads are there especially PERs... I know he contributed to the music but I think Travis Smith should have scratched the idea of the heads.
Oh well, I'm still very excited for this though and who knows maybe, I might change my mind about the cover.

Yeah but it's a Pain of Salvation release date so don't forget to add 6 months to what you're initially given.

Opeth have a couple of shows lined up in Romania with Katatonia in just a few days if I'm not mistaken.

I was REALLY surprised by that cover!

I was expecting some dark-colored typical Opeth cover. I liked the version without heads better, though. This may be another sign of the change in their music!

Man, that cover is not what I want from Opeth at all. They went from their best cover to one of their worst in the space of one album. Still, I guess it suits the vibe of what they've been saying about the actual music.

"It is with deep regret that we have had to pull out of the planned show in Bucharest on June 5th, this is due to the failure of certain contractual economic conditions not being met. Best endeavors are being made to reschedule the date, and more information will be posted at a later date. In the meantime it is suggested that ticket holders return to ticket outlets for refunds."

I think I like the artwork. I'm more a fan of non-buzy and "simple" art but anyway, it's quite original. And very different from their other covers as well!
