I couldn't think of a name, and I was listening to The Runaway by Gentle Giant at the time. The line "Lie low, the wanted man!" came up and I just said "meh" and made it that.

Glaurung is a dragon from The Silmarilion.

So pretty much I'm a Tolkien geek.

I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

Originally I was WanderlustDude6 on AIM. "Wanderlust" - Wishmaster - Nightwish.

But this is a DTF thread, so I chose a song that I love off my favorite album from them.

Ergo, ipso facto, therefore, in conclusion, penis.

I loathe my username.

However, people recognize me by it, unfortunately.  It came about years ago when I was a twelve year old Dream Theater fanboy.  So yeah.

Well I loved The Silent Cartographer level on Halo, I played that a lot. One day I noticed the rocket launcher ammo packs had "SPNKr" written on them. Thought that was cool so I pretty much stole it. Been using it since 2004/5 on many websites.

I wanted to have a standard name that I could use for any Star Wars game I played. I came up with the name Setra Taeso and used that for pretty much every game I played.

Setra, I think that is the best statement I have read on this forum.  Very well said.

A friend from high school and I developed several inside jokes related to the play "Waiting for Godot" because we found the overall concept of the play hilarious. I misspelled Godot on purpose because it looks cooler this way.

deja vu much?

long story short... used to use my old screen name everywhere... froppotheweak. twas a nickname givin to me by my then gf. I used it everywhere, until I went through a series of permabans on an online news forum site.... I was just getting into DT at the time and was obsessed with Octavarium, and my nickname is Jay, so it fit.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

My name roughly translates to "Bringer of Prosperity, Peace, and Awesomeness," in a now extinct dialect spoken only by the residents of a remote Pacific group of islands. It is what I overheard the natives chanting after I'd singlehandedly slayed the giant demonic Dixhathi-iu, or "Great Infernal Harbinger." They did not show proper gratitude, so I unleashed a plague upon their civilization. Many died of illness or starvation. The name is now exalted and feared; spoken only in whisper by the few who managed to survive my wrath.

Actually the real reason is because it's 'Htapoics' backwards.

Back when I joined the Megadeth forums in 2005 or 2006, I was really into a song called Global Laziness by the band MAP. When I came here, I kept the moniker. Simple as that.

Oh God, the Megadeth forums. Nothing but horrible, painful memories. Except for Macloud, and that MetalJay guy who was really into Porcupine Tree. Which I always found a bit odd. A forum full of metal heads plus one Steven Wilson fanatic.

Back in my more nerden days I played a MUD called RetroMUD and upon deciding on my race, Behemoth as seen here, I thought I was all clever and came up with Orcus. Little did I know I was beaten to the punch by several thousand years.

It's the name of a cartoon character I created in 4th grade and has been my username for every forum I could, along with HUD names in video games and other things. Rhymes with Zuke or bazooka.

Zydar is a character from the old PC game Heroes Of Might And Magic III. Been using it on the internetz since 1999.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.
