I bought a ticket for the Edinburgh show, now I need to plan my vacation around it!

Scotland has been really high on my vacation list anyway for many years already, so it was kinda convenient. I mean, otherwise I would have just flown to London :p

I would so love to travel there and visit the small towns to soak up the locals.

Wow, I randomly happened to be on another Frost* binge after years of kinda forgetting about the band and searched if you guys had a thread on DTF.  Lo and behold it was bumped only hours ago!

I took the time to read the abusive relationship everyone has endured with Jem since 2011...outside of obvious reasons, I really hope everyone gets their salvation in May like Jem says.

All of that aside, I think EIMA doesn't get enough love.  Sure, it doesn't have the sprawling epic of Milliontown in it, but hot damn there isn't a single filler track on that record, each exemplifying the Frost* vibe perfectly - catchy, dynamic progressive music rooted in excellent piano melodies that just turns you into jelly.

It's too bad I can't make it out to the UK to catch them live.  I'm sure it would be a Top 5 all-time show for me.

Anyway, here's to new Frost* music in 2016!   :tup

Maybe I need to listen to Experiments in Mass Appeal again, because my impression of it has always been that it is a decent album, with a couple standout tracks, but nothing special, and quite a drop-off from the mostly-really good Milliontown.

That's how I feel about it aswell. Milliontown is just on another level completely.

Well, here's my thought process.

Milliontown was superb all the way through with its six songs including one sprawling epic, which is in itself 5 songs or so.

Experiments In Mass Appeal's short songs can definitely hold a candle to its comparative songs on Milliontown with Toys, Dear Dead Days, Wonderland, t/t, Welcome To Nowhere, Falling Down and Pocket Sun.  (I just realized I essentially named every song on the album...)

While Milliontown's t/t gives it the nod, it's not fair to knock EIMA a peg simply because it's going up against a juggernaut of an album.  I really just see it as a larger collection of the excellent shorter tracks from Milliontown.

I "knock" EIMA because the majority of the songs, for me, are pretty forgettable and have that "just kind of there" feeling.

And as much as I enjoy Milliontown, I don't genuflect to it like some seem to.

I mean, I like this band, but unlike a lot of their fans, I don't think they walk on prog water. :P

Personally, I think I enjoy EIMA over Milliontown.  I know that the latter is the superior album, but the title track drags on too much for my liking.  Hyperventilate is god-tier though.

I got Milliontown last year, and the thing about it, for me, at least, is that I love the first four songs and can not for the life of me get into the two long ones at the end. And then I look on a forum like this and it's usually the last two tracks that are praised as the high points. :lol

Been a big fan ever since Nekov sent them in a roulette... quite excited for a new release.

I'll stand with Base and Jingle and say that EIMA is at least on par with Milliontown for me and at times I like it more... Both are excellent for me though.

Yeah I'd agree with this. Every time I try to listen to EIMA I end up going back to Milliontown, I just think its a better overall album.

This, though I slightly lean towards Milliontown.

Beyond the two albums, I also enjoy some of the B-Sides that have been released, especially "The Dividing Line", which is a superb 16 minute epic. I kind of wish they'd put together a compilation album of all the B-sides and non-album tracks that have been released on various releases/online over the years, but have never been on proper albums.

Also, I'd love to have a GOOD quality version of their cover of "Fanfare For The Common Man".

That is the single best thing they've done.  That might be in my top 10 tracks of all time by any band.  I love both the albums too but as many have said I slightly favor Milliontown.
