Warpaint appreciation thread v. RADIATE LIKE THIS (rel 5/6/22)
« on: February 27, 2011, 01:49:03 PM »

This place should dig them. The Eisley topic is proof of that. They're hot, they're good songwriters, they're prog, they're dreamy, they're post-rock-ish, they're all fans of Yes. And frankly, they're a lot better than Eisley (or the bands that they often get compared to actually, Eisley not being one of them).

I love 'em. The Fool is a an awesome album, I think now it's probably one of my favorite albums of 2010.

bump.

seeing them finally again tonight at The Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. It may be a bit surreal for me given when they were last here in September 2009, nobody I talked to at that show had heard of them, when they opened for School of Seven Bells.

bump.

They just released a new song called "Love is to Die" and their next record should likely be coming out soon (early 2014 would be my guess)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnuFYYJHaY0

"Love Is To Die" from some other recent posts  on Facebook, sounds like it could be the title of a documentary of some kind as well as a new song.

I'm surprised No Way Out is not on there, that sounds like it'll be good for remixing.   Maybe a b-side or something.  I really want to hear how Hi sounds in the studio, that's my favorite of the new ones.  The album is on double yellow vinyl.  Def getting that!

Just realized that the latest albums of two of my favorite bands are self-titled.  Weird.

I need to get an album by this band. I had a housemate who was really into them, and damn, they had some good music, but I never got round to getting any.

thanks. Not a bad tune, although like Love is to Die, it's kind of mid-tempo. I like the outro. I wonder if this new record may more focused on mood and being methodical. These 1st 2 songs seem to be that way.

Listened to it this morning. It's pretty good! A lot to digest. I definitely feel like it could have been spiced up in places, but I've few complaints, other than after one listen not much stood out.

Sounds great except the vocals in Disco/Very are kind of annoying.  With better vocals, that would be awesome.

Have been listening to The Fool all day.  My new favourite band <3

'the clit cut, the clit cut, the clit cut, the cut whaaaaaaaat' is by far the coolest intro to any song I've heard in a looooooong time.

Nice!  I'd say they're my favorite, but I've loved Blur for much longer.

Just scored me a Love Is To Die radio edit promo from ebay!

Best Buy didn't stock it!!!    :censored    Had to pay $18 for it at Barnes & Noble!!   >:(  But it's worth it.  It comes in a gatefold mini-LP sleeve and has a mini poster.  There's very few bands I would pay that much for.

I got the double red vinyl, CD and the Love Is To Die radio edit CD all in the same week!  :metal

I'm glad the ambiance of the first album wasn't a fluke.  This is "their sound" and they know it.  WP2 is great, but I like Fool better because it's more guitar based.

Yeah, I really enjoy it as well. I think it's great that the lyrics are also very good. The album feels like it lulls a bit in the mid/end range, but if you focus on the music and pay attention to the lyrics, it's actually very strong material - just not good as background music.

Hopefully it's a "radio edit", it's about half as long as the live version.

not exactly new, but this is a nice video of Theresa talking about her background and how she developed her guitar style.
