Dixie Dregs
« on: February 22, 2011, 08:31:22 PM »
I didn't see a thread dedicated to them, sorry if there is.

I just can't enough of this band right now. I'm currently listening to Pride O' The Farm and I can't get over it. Anymore songs from them that sound like this? I love the whole country sound

I also like most of their other songs. Anyone else?

From the bit I've listened to them I like it. Most of their songs sound samey to me though, so I can't ever listen to them for very long.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

I got "Unsung Heroes" on cassette in the 80s, which was released under "The Dregs" moniker.  Sometimes the first album of a group one hears seems the best because one gets most of what one wants from that particular release, so can't say I've really warmed up to any of the other albums I've heard, save for a few songs, too late now to get into them.

Love the Dregs and Morse's solo stuff. Didn't hear half of it, cause he has a huge discography, but I do like what I heard.
My favorite is the live "California Screamin'".

I absolutely love "The Bash":

I saw the Dregs open for DT back in 1999? in Philly.  Was awesome.

Listening to the Dregs' brand of music, I can see how Steve Morse could easily make the transition over to Kansas.

I have What If and Free Fall, both of which are excellent. I still need to check out there other stuff, especially the album with Jordan.

I'm still a little reluctant digging into the huge "top this or that" threads.
I find it easier to stick to individual band threads...

I find that the top 50 album threads are great ways to find new music.  Take a chance, you never know what you'll find.

Here's a direct link to my post about What If: https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=34578.msg1438692#msg1438692

Dixie Dregs are awesome. I especially love What If and Free Fall. Night of the Living Dregs is also really cool. They have lots of fun instrumental interplay and tight compositions. I saw the Dregs and the Steve Morse Band together a few years back.
WHOA, NICE GRAPHICS!

I remember for the longest time, Pride O' The Farm was my alarm clock, as you can tell from the OP, I really like that song.
