I can't fall asleep to music at all though, I just wanna tap my foot to the rhytms and I analyse the song harmonically - too much of that thinking doesn't put me to sleep.

Metal soothes the savage beast in side me. For as long as I have been listening to metal, it has always calmed me down if need be. It os funny because the same music that can put me to sleep also can pump be up depending on the situation.

You can't fall asleep to (). It requires your full attention. Plus the atmosphere changes from calm to something else entirely after the first half. But you do need to listen to it.

I would be asleep by the second half. And I would like to say that when that picture was taken, Gojira was most likely playing in the background...or Pearl Jam.

Though it feels kind of weird recommending them for sleeping music. Then again, Numbers obviously has a strange taste for sleeping music to begin with, so whatever. They are awesome.

I've said it many times before, but how anyone could fall asleep during ( ) is beyond me. There's just so much there for your attention. Just the same, I tried driving to that album once and it put me in a trance and when I came out of it I realized I had driven 20 miles in no time at all and I took the CD out.

I often fall asleep to either Waker by Disasterpeace (which is free) or the two quieter tracks from Molotov and Haze by Bass Communion.

I agree 100% with this. If you're looking for instrumental metal, than also give a look to Animals as Leaders, Cloudkicker, Jeff Loomis' solo album, or Exivious (this one is a little lighter, sort of a cross between jazz and metal)
