Stryper was my favorite band when I was a little kid, up until the 4th grade or so when I started getting into heavier/darker bands like Faith No More and Megadeth. I especially loved the Soldiers Under Command and To Hell With the Devil records, though they were all impressive. I remember writing a letter to the band, and shortly after, I got a response from Michael, typed on yellow paper
I didn't see them live until a couple years ago--it was strange seeing my favorite childhood band for the first time as an adult, but comforting when they put on an excellent show. They all sounded great, and Michael was able to hit all the high notes brilliantly; Oz Fox is still a really gifted vocalist as well. It was definitely alienating and annoying when they started throwing Bibles into the audience, but at least everything else about the show was enjoyable.
On a side note, I was proud of them for taking part in the benefit concert to help those injured in the Great White night club fire in Rhode Island(which killed about a hundred people).
And yes, you just gotta sing along to Sing Along Song--catchy as hell!
