Is it wrong that I don't like SYL? SYL is the main reason it took me forever to get into Devin's solo stuff, because I was scared it would resemble SYL too much, and I didn't want to waste my time with something I knew I didn't like.

The New Black in particular. I used to have that album, and I pretty much hated it. Thank God his solo stuff is better.
SYL is definitely not for everyone. Well I mean, it's only for those who like good music and don't fail :neverusethis:
I felt its length in quite a few places.

I always thought The New Black was the most accessible of the SYL albums, mostly because its got a lot of tongue-in-cheek stuff compared to the albums after HAARHT.

Oh, forgot SYL.
Good call, although the only one I've listened to much is The New Black, the others I heard I just couldn't really get into. Maybe I'll give them another try sometime.

The New Black - Far Beyond Metal. Or maybe You Suck

The lack of love for Wrong Side is very disturbing. Definately my fave SYL track

I've only listened to Alien, but I haven't had any desire to delve any further into SYL. Maybe someday I'll give it another spin.

From what I've heard of DT's stuff:

Terria - "Earth Day"
Accelerated Evolution - "Storm"/"Deadhead"
Synchestra - "Gaia"/"Notes From Africa"
Ki - "Disruptr"
Addicted - "Awake!"

I've come to a self realization just now. Devin Townsend is one of the few musicians so far to achieve that level "holy dick tickling hairy knuckles this music is good" with me personally, that no matter how many times I listen to an album of his or a single song I just can't seem to get tired of it. It's like...ever listen is my first listen ever.

GOD DAMN IT WHY DO I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH AND WHY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN A FAN MUCH LONGER THAN I HAVE. SERIOUSLY MY LIFE WOULD HAVE BEEN 10x MORE AWESOME IF I HAD LISTENED TO DEVY IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Devy binge all night tonight.

I want this box set so bad. I really do hope it's all four albums and not just the two new ones.

No no, the two new albums will come out seperately from the box set, which will come later. So you can buy each album seperately, or all four once the set comes out. I'm guessing if the 2 albums comes out around June or something, the box set might come out around August.

indeed, the box set is going to have way too many goodies to make buying the albums as they come out worthwhile.
