My band's new record; DONE!
« on: May 16, 2011, 10:23:33 AM »
I've had my band's new record done for about a month now, and am just pinning together the final details for release.  I've shared a good bit of it here over the course of recording and finally wanted to share something complete.

www.facebook.com/sympathyfromthestars

www.reverbnation.com/sympathyfromthestars

Either of these links will get you to the player.  There's one song up, entitled 'Saints and Martyrs'.  I had to do a little editing on it to meet reverbnation's size limitations, but I'll be posting a youtube link to an HQ unedited version as soon as it's done uploading.

I'm extremely happy with how this has turned out, and want to thank the entire dtf family for giving me critiques and suggestions and hell, support, through this whole process.

Hope you guys enjoy the tune, and if you're feeling generous, don't be afraid to join either of these pages and help us spread the word.  Enjoy! :)

Wow this is cool as man!  Really like the opening riff and the guitar (is it tapping) melodies?  Vocals haven't clicked with me, but I can appreciate the vibe you're going for.  Really cool!  It reminds me a little of In/Casino/Out by At The Drive-In.  The recording style that is.

Thanks man!  The first riff is a tapping part, harmonized left and right.  I really appreciate the ATDI reference; one of my all time favorites.  As far as the vocals, we're really just a punk band that learned how to play moderately well I suppose.   :D   Just the way our vocals have always been, and this project was a bit bigger than anything we've tackled before and I wasn't gonna completely change the way I sing or write, so this is what came out. :)

If you dig, make sure you joing the mailing list and/or the facebook.  Just trying to get the word out there, and I've got a lot more stuff to post real soon.

Sweeeeet!  I 'liked' you on facebook, looking forward to hearing more.  Once you get it up for sale I'll gladly grab a copy.  Keep up the good work man.

Kudos man, good to hear you're staying true to yourselves, that's what its all about in the end, really!

EDIT:  is that a superlux mic you're recording vocals with in that facebook pic??

EDIT2:  sorry, not you.  Jose?

Thanks a lot.  Definitely keep up with the page because we're gonna have some giveaways.  Maybe won't even have to buy a copy, just win one. :).

Far as the mic, I think it was a Samson condenser of some sort.  Not sure as that was recorded well after the bulk of the album.  Long story short, Jose just happened to be in town for a few days and we hadn't seen him in quite some time so we wanted to get him on the record.  So we went with whatever was set up.  So I really have no idea.  :).
