Steve Austin has revealed that he had knee surgery three weeks ago and is still on crutches, and that is why he didn't appear on RAW last night.  He said he wasn't about to show up on the 1,000th RAW as Stone Cold Steve Austin in character and on crutches.  Totally understandable.

Also, tell me The Rock didn't sell this like a champ:

He did.

Raw 1000 was a great nostalgia show if nothing more. We probably wont see any of the old wrestlers wrestling, and I think it's unfair that The Rock gets an automatic title shot at the rumble. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the next time we see him too.

Oh, he'll make a big show of it in between now and then that he's so there for everyone and blah blah blah but you're right.

Say what you want, but WWE just got 100,000 more buys for that PPV just because of that announcement.

Rock also sold the GTS very well!

Also, it is still very sad what an attention whore HHH is.  He stole Punk's thunder last fall following the explosion of the Summer of Punk, and now he has not only throw himself into the middle of a feud with Brock Lesnar, whose return was a very big thing, but he kicks his ass in a one-on-one fight last night?  Yeah, Cena got absolutely dominated by Lesnar, but HHH has no problem getting the best of him in under two minutes.  Pathetic.

i always loved the Rock's promos and he didn't disappoint last night...Calling Bryan a troll from the Lord of the Rings before telling him he looks like the child of a homeless lumberjack and an Ompah Loompah

It sure didn't help Bryan's cause in that segment that he was still in that white tux. :lol

Also, I must have skipped over Trish's segment, but last time I saw her, she looked anorexic.

Showing HHH how to stretch and do yoga.

I can't wait for Punk to take a shot at the Rock about how test audiences shat all over GI Joe, and it had to be pushed back to next March.  Makes me wonder how he's gonna promote that if he's in the WWE title picture.

The payoff to the whole AJ/Daniel Bryan wedding was, well dumb. Why go through that to make her the GM?

More importantly, why am I trying to make sense out of wrestling?!

What does everyone expect to come out of the Daniel Bryan - Charlie Sheen situation.  I can't see them actually having a match.

I don't know about that, his return didn't give Survivor Series many more buys than the previous year.

Nah, Punk's heel turn wouldn't have gone over in Chicago, as his hometown always cheers for him no matter what.  But really, he didn't get booed that much last night.  Most of the booing seemed piped in, and even a fairly loud "CM PUNK!" chant right after he did the GTS on the Rock seemed to vanish out of nowhere, so the WWE probably did some audio trickery to make it seem like the crowd was booing him more than they really were to make his heel turn seem more legit.  And assuming Punk does become a full-fledged heel again, I suspect he will still be a heel that gets cheered quite a bit, although they'll probably give him some upcoming promos where he rips the crowd to draw more heel heat.

Yeah, the announcing tandems were awesome back then:

Monsoon and Heenan
Monsoon and Ventura
McMahon and Ventura

That was before McMahon was too overbearing, and he and Ventura had an amazing chemistry.  Best exchange ever:

As a referee was being wheeled away from the ring on a stretcher....

Vince: "That looks like you after your matches back in the day, Jesse."

Jesse: "Don't you tell me that, McMahon! That looks like you after one of your St. Paddy's day binges!"

I'll try to watch Summerslam because I'm intrigued if the WWE will let Cena win the title, then loses it to Rock at the Rumble to face CM Punk at WM29 or will they let CM Punk long reign continue.

Well, there is still about five months in between tonight and the Rumble, so I wouldn't assume that whomever comes out of tonight with the belt is a lock to still have it then, especially since the WWE runs PPVs every three weeks nowadays.

When I was a kid we randomly had a blank VHS tape in the house with all of Wrestlemania 4 on it. Even as a kid I loved listening to Monsoon and Ventura go back and forth for a couple hours.

They made the match too even! It should've been a much more futile attempt by Triple H, he should've never even landed one Pedigree. It would've made the eventual rematch much more better dramatically.

I don't think it really was that even.  Granted, HHH garnered more offense than Cena did when he fought Lesnar back in April (which was a mistake back then, I thought), but there is no way HHH would book himself to get dominated AND lose the match.  No way, no how. :lol

But it would've made for a much better story. Even some blood, like with Cena, it would've worked much better. As it was, it was kinda slow, uninteresting match IMO.

Word on the street is that Vince was pissed that Triple H lost - he wanted H to win, but H wanted to lose so it could build further to Survivor Series.

Either way, about the only thing I'm interested in these days is Punk's heel turn.  Everything else IMO is

No fashah wants their kid to lose.

I thought it was lame how Jerry Lawler was knocked out with one kick from scrawny CM Punk. The dude used to be a wrestler. He shouldn't job like a ref.

Lawler is terrible as a face anyway; he should always be a heel announcer and a heel in the ring on the rare occasions where they include him in in-ring activity.  But the WWE likes their legends cheered, so they can't have that.  :\

I thought it was over when Brock quit again on Monday Night Raw
