I'd definitely recommend trying out DGUSA. They run a small amount of shows, so it's tough to get overwhelmed by them, plus nearly every show more than delivers in terms of quality. If you're interested, I'd be more than happy to give you some recs.

And today, Ring of Honor, one of my favorite indy feds, announced they've been bought by Sinclair Broadcasting and are getting a major TV show up and running in the next few months. I'm ridiculously excited.

Well, you're about to. Right now, the plan is to get a weekly show up and running in 3 months, probably in a Saturday evening timeslot, and also put the shows online, as well.

ROH is an awesome fed, and it's interesting to see where guys like CM Punk, Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan all came from, as they're each former ROH World Champions.

Poor Miz... Fucking BURIED.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

At least Christian/Orton saved the PPV from being completely worthless.

CM Punk is a god!!!

I still can't believe they're letting him go!

By the way, if it was worked, they're really going all out on it, WWE.com main page says he's indefinitely suspended and he's been remove from the roster.

No way that wasn't a work.  They wouldn't have let him go on for that long if it wasn't.  And the WWE logo that usually closes the show was shown halfway through the Cena/Truth match, so cutting the end of the show off suddenly was obviously part of it all.  Is it possible that Punk went over board a bit with his comments?  Maybe.  But it was still a work, and the fact that there is a lot of buzz about it means it is working well.  Reminds me of the NEXUS thing last summer which came out of nowhere and caught everyone off guard.  It had that "real" feel to it, too, but was also a work.

^^^ that's what I said to my buddy before, there hasn't been this kind of buzz in the IWC since the Nexus debut last summer. He definitely would have been cut off earlier if it was a shoot, and I'm hoping that the talk of him leaving next month is a lark and he picks up the belt and goes on a monster title run as a heel.

Those are next week's Raw results, since it's gonna be a pre-taped show.

It is indeed a worked shoot, but it was indeed the greatest thing to happen in WWE since the Attitude Era ended.

That was pretty cool I guess. I haven't watched wrestling in years and am certainly not a CM Punk fan, but I enjoyed that rant. Question though: Was he referring to Shane when he said "son in law" because Shane looks too much like Vince to be from another father.

EDIT: I forgot about Triple H. lol

He's now the CEO of a company bringing the "on-the-demand" TV thing to China and serves on the board of directors of a sports management company. I do believe he still owns part of WWE, but he's not working for them anymore.

Kind of a stupid question, but what happens when wrestlers really retired or get fired while having the belt? They gotta give it back right? I used to be a huge wrestling fan, but I don't really know all that much behind the scenes stuff.

Well, they are given a replica of the belt, I've seen pictures of Triple H's and Rock's house where they have them in display cases.

What a promo. I wonder if it was a shoot or he was told to mention them to make him seem edgy. Nevertheless, that is why Punk is one of the best on the mic and I would say that was the best promo in the past 10 years.

All the topics he mentioned (ROH, John Laurinitis, Paul Heyman, etc.) are actually pretty safe topics. Sure, they're controversial, but they're all under control. Had Punk actually been shooting, we would've heard a LOT more fucked up shit (He could've gone off on the wellness policy or Orton's previous backtage treatment of the Divas, for instance). But no, he mentioned buzzwords to appeal to smarks to make them go "Oh yeah, I was pissed about that!"

But the fact that he could cause such a stir with corporate-approved controversial topics is damn impressive and a testament to how good he is on the stick. I hope he finds his way back to ROH, especially now with their TV deal.

If it was a shoot, the mic would`ve never been turned on for him.
If it was a work that pushed the boundaries, they would`ve cut him off the instant he said anything not ok`d.

Nothing, and I repeat ... NOTHING would ever get to air on TV if it wasn`t planned.  No way Vince would ever take a chance with anyone going off script.  The instant anything doesn`t or isn`t going as planned, they`d cut to commercial.  Most guys write or have a lot of input into their script, but make no mistake, anything that gets on air is 100% planned ahead of time.  Proof ... the `hug` back in `96 between HBK, HHH, Hall and Nash was never shown until WWE bought WCW.  Sure, it wasn`t a televised show, but NEVER was it ever shown on WWE TV, or even spoken about for years.

As far as I know(from some loldirtsheets) a lot of the stuff he said was exactly why he was leaving the company and supposedly he IS leaving after MITB. I hope not I'd love a CM Punk title run  :sadpanda:

Yeah, I read on sescoops.com that they only told him to go out and say why he was leaving and what he felt about the company and were only gonna cut the mic when he mentions the anti-bullying campaign.

But so far it looks that even if he doesn't leave the WWE, he will be taking some months off after MitB.

I've always wondered the logistics of WWE. Is every match choreographed completely, or are 'they' just like "you dominate for the first 5 minutes or so, then a momentum swing, he attempts a finisher, you counter and you pull off the upset." And by 'they', who are they? Is Vince out the back and runs the wrestlers through every match and how it's going to go down, or are there others, or what? I've always wondered this.

My guess is that Vince and his crew have information about who should win based on popularity, ratings, etc and then they give a few instructions to the fighters and the fighters along with their trainers, specialists or whatever prepare the whole fight, movement by movement.

This is just a guess though, I have absolutely no knowledge of how the whole business works.
