I Need Grill Cheese Sandwich Ideas!!!!

So, we are starting a daily grill cheese sandwich special, and though I have a certain amount of awesome ideas, I can always use more. Especially from people who don't think about food the way I do. Get exotic, get crazy, any ideas that are used, I will try and post a pic for ya!!!


Here are a few to give you an idea of what I'm looking for...

- Shrimp, crab, artichokes, cheddar, lemon aioli, sourdough
- Chicken, tequila onions, jalapeno jam, cotija, torpedo roll
- Ham, guyere, stone ground honey mustard sauce, sourdough
- Bacon, brie, emascerated strawberry puree, brioche

I just had the macaroni and cheeseburger at Cheesecake Factory and it was literally the best burger I ever had.. And I don't even recall tasting the patty. It had a giant fried macaroni and cheese ball in the middle, right over the slice of cheddar and that was all that mattered. I'd say utilize a deep fried macaroni and cheese ball with gushing cheese, and call it a Grilled Cheese Gusher or something.

Ooh I got another one. Pepper-jack, cheddar, and those little sausage chunks like you get on pizza. And maybe a pepperoni option. Or steak chunks. Aahh, who am I kidding, anything will taste good with bread and cheese.. Hell, through some broccoli on it while you're at it, and I'll like it.

Fig Jam, Roasted Red Peppers, Bacon &  Brie.  Use a hearty bread and press like a panini.

Had this are a restaurant on the Outer Banks last year with an IPA and it was to die for.

1. The English Ploughman's: English cheddar, caramelised onions, balsamic vinegar, spinach, a decent white bread
2. The Welsh rarebit: Cheddar sauce (Egg yolks, creme fraiche and Strong cheddar), Chilli jam (or similar), Worcestershire sauce, sour dough bread. Open face.

I had the most amazing Lobster grilled cheese sandwich at Pebble Beach last fall.  Can't remember what else was on it though.  Think there was probably some avocado.

Make your run-of-them-mill grilled cheese sandwich, get it all toasted and ready to go, and then put grape jelly on the top toasted side.  Seriously.  It's amazing.  Sounds unusual, but it's an old family thing, and every person we've every told about it, who then tried it, has been surprised by how good it was.

Here's how I make my sandwich at home: velveeta slices, 4 cheese mexican shredded cheese blend and a slice of swiss.  Garlic parm chips on the side.

Try to incorporate famous or popular dishes into a sandwich maybe? Like a Chicken Cordon Blue sandwich? What about a mozzarella cheese stick sandwich, layered in meat sauce and proved?

I'm far from a chef but was trying to brainstorm.

I had a sandwich yesterday that had sundried tomatoes and ranch on it.

That combo was spectacular, maybe get that on there with an appropriate cheese?

Check out Bob's Burgers Burger of the Day.  You might find some inspiration in them and make them into grilled cheese

Carl's Jr used to have a grilled cheese bacon burger.  I still request it, so good.  Jack also has a burger topped with a grilled cheese sandwich.

For a simple one, just make a regular grilled cheese sandwich, but put fried mozzarella sticks on it.  This probably isn't the sort of thing you're looking for, but if you've never tried it, you should.  Delicious.

Grape jelly goes well with so many things you wouldn't expect it to, so I will certainly take your word for that.
