So for the various orchestrated songs (notably Make a Plan to Love Me) is it all composed by Conor, or did he collaborate with a classical composer like DT did for Score?

I'm pretty sure Nate Walcott (the trumpet guy) did all the transcribing and stuff for the orchestrated stuff.

I'm Wide Awake is good, but I can name several Bright Eyes albums that immediately strike me as better than IWA.

I think either Lifted or Digital Ash is my favorite.

What album should I get if I have only heard I'm Wide Awake and think it's a fantastic album? Is there an album in a similiair style?

I suppose its sister album (digital ash) is close enough to it, except very electronic.

Before that point the songwriting is pretty different in style, and absolutely wonderful.

I'll just get Digital Ash and then some random stuff. Have listened to I'm Wide Awake a lot, so might be time to get a second album :p.

My favorite Bright Eyes song has got to be Waste of Paint.

That song is just... I can't even begin. I'm sure Chris can testify to its brilliance, too, though.

Am now listening to Digital Ash in a Digital Urn for the first time. Down in a Rabbit Hole is so pretty!

Just listened to all of Lifted again.

God, what an amazing album. Anyone who likes Bright Eyes but hasn't heard this record needs to hear it. Right now. This instant. It's by far Conor's best songwriting, if you ask me, and it converted me from fan to BIG fan.

 :lol

Anyways, I love The People's Key and it was a good enough starting point for me. Others might suggest I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning or Digital Ash.

If you can stand VDGG you should be able to enjoy Bright Eyes.

Try Digital Ash in a Digital Urn.  Its what I started with.

Heard a few songs here and there. Definitely prefer them. Maybe this particular album isn't my thing... I'll be sure to pick up something else when I return to my hometown (all they have here in Calgary is The People's Key, which is why I got it).

Seconded.

Also, I feel like Make War is way too ignored, can we get some love in for that song?

I downloaded IWA a few weeks ago and have given it a few spins.  Liking it, but I need to hear it more.  Also, on that first track, I totally thought he was about to tell the masturbation story from "Mallrats." :lol
