So I've been listening to Bright Eyes almost nonstop the last week or so. The People's Key is awesome (favorites are "Ladder Song," "Beginner's Mind," "Shell Game," and "One For Me, One For You"), and I already liked Digital Ash (Take it Easy and Hit the Switch...
). So when I bought I'm Wide Awake Its Morning, it was my first exposure to "real" folky Bright Eyes and I'm quite enjoying it. "Lua" is so beautiful and is on the fast track to becoming my favorite Bright Eyes song.
I think my favorite aspect about the music is that the vocals are the forefront of the music. Not that Conor's a great vocalist, because normally I think I'd get really sick of his voice really quickly, but the way he perfectly enunciates the lyrics and how they're never buried by instruments is really really well done.
