Right I'm going to get my ticket sorted this week for Sonisphere, but before I do I'd quite like to know if it'd be cool to camp with one/more of you DTFers! None of my 'real life' friends are going and festivals are a whole lot more fun if you're camped with some cool people! I'll be bringing plenty of alcohol, if that helps  :hat

I won't be camping at Sonisphere because I only live a few minutes down the road but I'm sure you will have an immense weekend. There is actually a Sonisphere 'camp loner' I am led to believe in which solo attendees camp together and become non-solo attendees as a result.

Also I'm probably doing Bloodstock this year as well now, gonna be an awesome summer.

Fantastic, much appreciated Rich! The lineup is just ridiculous now. Recent additions I'm most excited about are Rolo Tomassi and Howard Marks, hopefully there won't be too many awful clashes.

I love how Protest The Hero's name is so small on that poster I can hardly read it, yet they're the band I'm most exited about seeing

The bands I'm most looking forward to seeing are

Rolo Tomassi
Gojira
Protest the Hero
Periphery
Arch Enemy
The Black Dahlia Murder

Although there are many other bands that I want to see too, they're the ones that jump out at me most. Plenty of bands I haven't heard music by before who I'll be interested in too, such as One Minute Silence and Tesseract

I do know some other guys who are going, but they're not getting there till the friday, so yeah if I could still camp with you guys that'd be sweet! (I'm assuming you're getting there on the thursday too.) I'm bringing plenty of booze and music  :tup

Awesome, gates are at 3 right? What time you planning on being there? I'm getting the train and who knows what that journey's gonna be like  but ideally I'll be there by 5. No point me getting there too early and trying to reserve a good space for all your mates  :lol

Yeah I think we're expecting 5ish as well, we're going to set off from London around 3 and go via supermarket/off-licence to get food and booze. No point in arriving bang on 3 as there'll be a massive queue.

Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if it started snowing over the weekend, the weather near where I live has been going from one extreme to another all week.

Sonisphere was absolutely brilliant, best festival I've been to! I figured I'd bump this thread to keep all the discussion together.

At some point I'll do a brief write up of all the bands I saw, but that could take a while so it'll have to wait a day or two.

Yeah they were fairly uncomfortable as well.

But I was really impressed by how much festival facilities have improved since 2005. The luxury loos for £3 a go were genius, and the range of different food and drinks stalls was great as well (fruit smoothies!). I swear back when I used to go to festivals, it was pretty much burgers or nothing.

They were really good, it was most mostly RtR-onwards songs, but interestingly those were the ones the crowd seemed to know best. They played The Hive and Pinball Map from the earlier albums, but the crowd didn't sing along so much as with songs like Trigger, Cloud Connected and The Quiet Place. I guess their more recent stuff is more popular with the mainstream metal crowd!

Oh and they ended with Take This Life, which was brutal, such an amazing set closer. There was actually a constant stream of crowd surfers during it!
