JR & JLB are to play SDV this weekend at the Tarrytown gig. Didn't see that one coming . . .

I'm probably being trolled

If not, someone at the show had better record that. HEADS WILL ROLL OTHERWISE

Ben_Jamin

Won't be as epic unless he does all those patches, and hope Marco does the full band thing at the end.

GuineaPig

Tell me this wouldn't be the best way to introduce the new drummer.

Wow!!! thats going to be awsome!!!!! damn i'm in florida.

Sigz

Algo Fonix

I'm glad they were open to doing this.  And hopefully they will be again.

Somebody has to film this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tri.ad

Awesome!

It's not that much of a let-down that it's not going to be the whole band playing it. Drums, guitars and bass only had a minor supporting role on the studio version, so I'm fine with only JR and JLB playing it.

TAC

That's awesome. I really hope it makes the setlists on the next tour.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

ZBomber

Purchasing tickets to this show was the greatest idea I ever had.

OF ALL TIME or something

I doubt it. I think the only reason they'll play it is because it's not actually DT playing it.

Right, because it's not actually a DT song

:neverusethis:

I would love to see this song in future setlists, but it has to be at the right show/venue. Obviously seeing it during their opening sets for Maiden last year would have been the ultimate buzzkill. But it would have worked well for one of the one-off club shows they did.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

hefdaddy42

I'm not actually that big a fan of the song, but this is awesome.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Voyage 34

I wonder why they want to do it now...

Being a huge Kevin Moore fan, I'm extremely pleased I will be attendance for this.

Being a huge Kevin Moore fan, I'm extremely bothered by the fact that they would perform this.

???  Why?

TAC

Any chance of Kevin Moore making the scene?

Probably because KevMo won't be any part of it.

Well, it's a Kevin Moore song.  It doesn't feel right.  Give me a little time and I'm sure I'll be ok with it.

Obviously, my initial reaction is that the song should remain untouched unless Kevin decides to be a part of it.  But I guess it is an honor that they would decide to perform it.  I just cringe to think of JR jazzing up the song with lots of extra notes.  I guess I'll just enjoy the fact that they are playing it and see how it goes.  This is a historical event.

I guess that makes sense.  But it's not like they haven't invited him a bunch of times to come play it.  I'm not trying to open up that whole debate again, but I mention it just to point out that if he wanted to play it with them, I'm VERY certain the door would be open.  He just doesn't want to.

Birch Boy

Fuck. I told the forum about it (obviously everyone would've known anyway, I was just the first to post it), and I can't even go.

Yessssss

But hasn't the band played other songs exclusively written by KevMo? I see absolutely no reason why this one deserves special treatment...

Well, I beg anyone going to this to please record it in some way. I love this song I'm sure JR is going to do some interesting things with the keyboards.

ZeppelinDT

Where is this info coming from?  I keep hearing that it was posted on James' facebook page, but I don't see it on there anywhere on there.  Does he have a second secret facebook page or something?

John94

I guess KevMo will have to smile and learn to pretend come Sunday night.

But seriously, I'm drooling.

KevShmev

Looks like Portnoy's comment that one time about the rest of the band sharing his non-love for this song was wrong.  What a surprise.
