DT-FW-QR all in one show?  Holy crap, what a lineup!!!
I can't believe that would've had only a "half empty arena"!!!

yup the Verdun Auditorium an 'armpit' suburb of Montreal. The best was the encore with both drummers sitting at the monster kit. It was, by all accounts, an EPIC tour. Geoff Tate even sound pretty good at our show.....Take Hold of the Flame..was excellent.
Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Happy Lives to you all.

I haven't been to it yet.

Coheed and Cambria. April 18th. Hell yeah.

Rush, May 6th 2011

Trust me, if you think it will happen, it won't. Don't get your hopes too high. Most of the best shows I've been to were the ones that I was not expecting much from. But because there were some shows that I was just too pumped for, they did not meet my lofty expectations.

I hate you all

I need to go to more shows
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

For me it was Return to Forever in May 2008 in Houston, TX. It was their third live show together in 25 years. And it was beyond amazing.

Tough call, but Pete Townshends solo show was probably a touch above all the rest.

For a pure visual spectacle, the recent Water's Wall show, hands down.

This is so true. I remember last year at Pukkelpop festival one of my friends was like dude you should really go see The Flaming Lips.. And I was like "uhh okay, but I don't know them at all". I need not tell anyone who's seen The Flaming Lips live that I was BLOWN AWAY. One of the best concerts I've ever been to, seriously.

For me it's a toss up between these three:

Opeth - Royal Albert Hall, London - 5th April 2010
Transatlantic - Shepherd's Bush Empire, London - 21st May 2010
Porcupine Tree - Royal Albert Hall, London -  10th October 2010

All of the above (no pun intended) where immense gigs that I'll never forget.

Clash of the Titans...MSG
Alice in Chains
Megadeth
Slayer
Anthrax

Show was almost stopped when some idiot decided to start a bonfire on the floor of the Garden
That's funny.  During that show down here there were quite a few fires set (this was outdoors, in a shed).  The guys in yellow shirts would show up to put them out, and each time they'd have to bring more guys and more fire extinguishers because the crowd was somewhat hostile to their interventions.  About midway through Megadeth's set, one of our group (a chick) started a pretty good fire, and managed to nurse it along into full-blown bonfire status.  After that set about 30 of the yellow-shirts came out with a fire-hose, and were promptly disarmed by the mob.  Massive tug of war ensued.  After that they just let it burn for the rest of the night.  We had to clear out not too long after it got going, but it lasted a good 2 hours.  Second best fire I've ever seen at a Texas venue.

Man, I miss the good ole days when concerts were actually halfway wild.

El Barto, I think you are a cool dude and not afraid of anything and all that, but I would appreciate it if you never talk about concerts ever again, because after every time you do, I feel shittier about the shows I have seen and how that were not as awesome as your stories.

Barto....backdrop to the story..This was indoors...secondly the garden had just re-opened after massive renovation, its started when some fans started ripping the new seat cushions out of the seats and throwing them down towards the floor...its was pretty cool watching all the seat cushions flying around during Megadeth's set. Someone in security decided it was best to start collecting all the seat cushions , that were being thrown around, they started piling them in the center of the floor, between the security gates, so they had a nice size pile, by the time Slayer was getting ready to hit the stage, now remember these cushions were probably made of foam rubber of some sort. About two songs into Slayer's set, someone threw either matches or a lit piece of paper on the pile, it went up within seconds, a raging fire about 20-30 seat high filling the garden with thick black smoke. The house lights came on, they cut the power to the stage and security and NYC police attacked the fire with fire extinguishers until the fire was out. Tom A had to ask the crowd to behave themselves otherwise NYPD was gonna pull the plug on the show. I honestly thought the crowd would riot, but Slayer seemed to calm the crowd down to the point where they let the show start back up. Tom kept asking the crowd to go crazy but asked them to please not use the "Flames of Hell' again.

I haven't been to nearly as many concerts as most people here, so would have to list 2 from last year as my favorites. Roger Waters December 11 in Tacoma. Dream Theater June 21 in Portland (Presto Ballet opened). Two vastly different shows, so I will list them as 1a and 1b.

Some research tells me that it was Megadeth-Slayer-Anthrax.  I remembered that Anthrax headlined, but not the other two.  That also means that it was during Megadeth that she started the fire.  I do remember it burning all the way through Slayer's set with people moshing around it the whole time.

The best fire I've seen at a Texas concert was indoors at an ACDC concert.  Apparently, setting the upper balcony of Reunion on fire during ACDC shows was a bit of a tradition.  When they were here with Yngwie, they set a couple of rows of seats on fire.

At an early stadium tour with Metallica, people were ripping out the seat cushions and throwing them around.  Between sets, Lars came out with a mic and implored us to stop.  In that whiny voice of his: "we have to pay for every one of those seats you rip up!"  He had already started the Napster thing, so that didn't go over well at all.  I'll bet that little speech cost them $50k.   :rollin

unbelievable show that to this day is awesome. They played an awesome set and closed by inviting Alain Johannes and Dave Grohl up the stage and they started jamming on Kick Out The Jams by MC5.

Yea...Alice in chains got 20 minutes the others about 60-75 minutes..If my memory serves me right ...Not sure if they rotated slots on a nightly basis, although they did rotate on a regional basis ..Being that Anthrax is from NY, they did headline the MSG show

Opeth November 08. Ghost Reveries tour. Small ass venue. 2 and a half hour set. Insane crowd. Fun times.
Um...2008 was the tour for Watershed.

Which is actually the show I was going to post, when I saw Opeth in October of 08. Though, the two times I've seen Iron Maiden are basically tied with this Opeth show.

My mistake. It was 05... but I did see them 08 as well.

Coheed and Cambria at Higher Ground in VT.

It was back when I only knew like two C&C songs, and yet it was still better than the Iron Maiden/DT concert I went to last year in New York (to be fair, my friend and I had really shitty seats like halfway up in MSG, right next to an entrance with light coming through).

Coheed is just an incredible band live.
