Recommend some Nevermore, Soilwork, & Powerglove
« on: January 17, 2011, 04:28:41 PM »
Not what I usually listen to, but I like a lot of the stuff I've heard and I'm seeing them live with soon, so I'd like to be more familiar with their material.

lol

Regardless of personal opinion, This Godless Endeavor is generally considered to be Nevermore's best, and a good starting point. Go with that.

This Godless Endeavor for sure. Powerglove has some great stuff, but you might only like it if you're a bit of a video game/old cartoon fanatic. I started with their rendition of "Mario Minor", but I'm also a sucker for the Pokemon Theme or This is Halloween.

Powerglove's version of the Batman theme is fantastic. It's on their latest release from last year called Saturday Morning Apocalypse.

Id recommend Dead Heart In A Dead World, or This Godless Endeavour by Nevermore.
Those are the two albums I really listen to from Nevermore.
Powerglove is great, they have some cool renditions of video game and cartoon music. Personally I love their final fantasy songs.
I'm not too familiar with soilwork tbh

Powerglove is cheesy as all hell, but it's pretty :metal still

Saturday Morning Apocalypse, solely for the Pokemon theme sung by Tony Kakko :hefdaddy

This Godless Endeavor is easily the best starting point for Nevermore. From there, I'd recommend either Dead Heart in a Dead World or Enemies of Reality (BUT FOR FUCKS SAKE ONLY GET THE ANDY SNEAP MIX). If you like what you've heard, move on to The Politics of Ecstasy, since it's superior to all other Nevermore albums (well, tied with TGE) but takes some getting used to.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

Nevermore - Godless and Dead Heart.  Enemies is excellent too.

Soilwork - Chainheart Machine, Predators Portrait, Natural Born Chaos, Figure Number Five.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

I'd recommend you don't bother with Soilwork for now and listen to In Flames, Dark Tranquillity or At The Gates instead. These are the three best melodeath bands by a mile so I'd certainly say they're all better choices than Soilwork. Soilwork are still good but those three bands are far superior.

Nevermore:

Enemies of Reality
This Godless Endeavor
Dead Heart, In a Dead World

Thanks to the rest of you on the Powerglove descriptions. I had never heard of them before, and I'm going to go to the show blind and check them out. I'm going for Symphony X and Nevermore, so Powerglove and Soilwork will be sight unheard by me.

Not exactly sure what Nintendocore is, but yes it's metal covers of video game songs and one album has cartoon themes.

Hmm sounds entertaining.

But yeah I was gonna say if they weren't video game related and they had the name Powerglove, that'd be incredibly cheesy. :lol
