My album Cover
« on: June 11, 2009, 04:47:31 PM »
Here is the front album cover.  I will create the back cover later.  The reason this is the cover is because the girl has a bad life, and is only happy in her dreams..  I used a few stock photos, and I had to edit them a lot.  Tell me what you think

It looks like a good idea. The only problem is the way you've combined then looks too fake. But I'm not a great judge of this kinda thing.
I bet in hell all the toilet rolls are down the wall....... AND YOU CAN"T CHANGE IT.

BCSL is secretly a concept album about indefinite articles.

The bed looks incredibly fake, mainly because the lighting it different.

This. I really like the idea, but the bed's brightness needs to be increased dramatically. If you had white sheets in direct sun, they're gonna be REALLY bright.

Find a new bed, seriously, that isn't working.

Also, move "Stover" over a bit so the "S" isn't touching the light/dark dividing line.

I can't move stover.  and that sucks.  If I move stover, I have to redo the whole thing, because it is already set on top of the image.

Sounds like he's using Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, but not saving it in a layered format to work with later, like psd.

Im using a free program for mac called gimp.  You can't save it in a layered format in gimp, you have to flatten it first to save.

GIMP can't save any layered formats? I thought GIMP was one of the best free image editing programs around. I'd be surprised if it couldn't.

You can - theres the .xcf GIMP format, and you can even save in .psd if you want.

see if you can make the light/shade division a bit more 'gradual'. (as in, not a perfectly accurate split)

Here's what I came up with:

To see it properly save it then view it at it's biggest.
That actually looks really nice.  I would use it with your permission.  Only two things, instead of collin stover, can you put traumen?
And could you make the left side darker, and right side lighter?  Main focus is Traumen though.  I know beggers can't be choosers, but those are just two things I can point out that I'd want changed.  Thank you very much for making this.
P.s.  You did use stock photos right?  Because if they aren't public domain I could get in trouble for using them for an album cover.

Thank you.  Yeah, try to find a stock photo.  Oh, and I like jezstyles idea.  To make it gradually shift from dark to light?  and I Don't want it to look so, sketchy.  Idk.  I know I sound like I am complaining too much, I am just trying to give you and idea of what I want it to look like.  OS if you good make the dark to light more gradient, that would be great too unstead of splitting straight down the middle.

OK. First one, stock images, no gradient. I prefer this one.

Second one, gradient, stock images. Had to zoom in a bit because of the constraints of the program.

I like the second one.  but do you think there is a way you could make the left side darker.  I want it to really look like a nightmare.  and the right side to really look like a dream.
You are very generous and helpful and I thank you very very much for doing all of this.  I will credit you inside the book if I make a book, if not, I will put it in the corner of the final image

EDIT  and I don't really like the sketch or paint effect on the right side.

Aw, really?  I thought it was a clever touch.  The left side is reality.  It's darker, sharper and grittier.  The right side is the dream world.  It's brighter, more impressionistic and freer.  I thought petrucci07's effect on the right side would help emphasize the point of your concept.

okay, yeah  I see what you are saying.  I would still like the left side to be darker then.  It would then be perfect.
