I'm surprised with the hate for On The Plane, its one of my favourites from the album. I love the Floyd-esque style to it   :hat

I'm not just surprised I'm actually shocked from the hate for On The Plane, it's chorus was one of those parts of album that made me think "this album is great" from the first listen.

Probably the most I've ever seen an opinion be the opposite of my own, ever.  :lol

On The Plane is easily the weakest on the album.

I dunno, the vocal melodies really bug me.  They sound awkward or forced or...something.

I agree with this. The jazzy guitar line's alright, though.

So far, I'd say the new album is about as good as the first one, but not as good as the second one.  I've listened to all of them a lot over the past few days (which has been easy, given how short they all are), and the second album is definitely my favorite.

Not sure which albums my favourite to be honest... it depends on what mood I'm in seeing as though each album has a significantly different sound for the most part

Do you know some bands that are similar to Blackfield ? I love this band so much, and I'd like to know if there are other stuff out there in the same vein.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

Just saying but I don't like Waving all that much, it sounds like a rehash of Disappear.
Zigota is great though, but as with the other Blackfield albums there are about three songs on it that I love and the rest are pretty meh

Not into this at all at the moment, so I won't even try to begin on 'DNA'. I do know I liked the first two records just a bit (the first one a little bit more). Just watched the 'FoaBP' portion of the Anesthetize DVD with friends, and it was awesome. Epic set, really, damn.

Was at the show last night in DC. It was a solid, albeit slightly louder than necessary, show. Since I don't know the song titles well enough, can't give you a setlist, but I did recognize a few tracks. Overall, a great night of music between them and the two guys from Anathema who opened the show with an acoustic set...

Wait, Anathema isn't playing as a full band?!?

No, and given how huge the applause they were getting, it is safe to say that a lot of people were there to see Anathema last night.

Vincent Cavanagh of the U.K. atmospheric rock band ANATHEMA has issued the following update:

"This week, due to circumstances outside of our control, the full band will not be able to travel to the U.S. to perform with BLACKFIELD. Despite making every effort and exploring all avenues to make this trip possible, we were not able to find a solution.
"Our fans are our number one priority and so as not to let you down, we've generated enough support to keep most of our American Dream alive but this does still mean a few unavoidable changes to the plan.

"We wanted to let you know that instead of the full band appearing, myself and Danny [Cavanagh] will now be performing acoustically. We're really excited as it's our first time in the States and with absolute respect for fans who have bought tickets, we want to go over and give you a great show. Even though we'll be focusing mainly on the newer material, we're still ready to play some of the old songs if people want to hear them! In fact, to us, these acoustic gigs are more special and exciting in a way — they are less structured and more improvised than a full band show — there's room for a bit of freedom on the night. Additionally, due to the unprecedented style of these shows we have decided to record these rare acoustic performances for forthcoming special releases and exclusive online content.

"We really feel this is just the beginning OF ANATHEMA's U.S. story and Danny and I are looking forward to meeting everyone. We will be on the merchandise stand after every performance to greet you all and we will do our best to make sure the full band gets to tour in the USA as quickly as possible, perhaps even headlining before the end of the year.

"Whilst we realise this is a significant change from the original plan and we are disappointed that we can't perform with the full band, we are thrilled that we can still play to our fans in the USA. In true ANATHEMA spirit, the show WILL go on."

"We're Here Because We're Here", the eighth studio album from ANATHEMA, will receive its long-overdue U.S. release on June 7 on The End Records. A special, limited-edition deluxe edition will include three bonus tracks, a seven-inch single with two unreleased tracks, and a DVD 5.1 Surround Sound version of the album, along with the stereo version, both mixed by Steven Wilson of PORCUPINE TREE.

Well, you shouldn't think of the whole situation like you're missing out on Anathema.
You should look at it and think: "hey, I get to see these guys perform something truly unique, something they might never do again, and I'm one of the lucky people who get to see it".

Yea, I for one would really like to see them play a acoustic set with just the two of them. But I understand that people who have never seen them as a full band might be a bit disappointed.
