I do prefer DNA to Blackfield 1, but to be honest I think they should have waited till Wilson had more time - it's not really the real dynamic of Blackfield now, and we'll have to wait several more years till we hear a true collaboration - because that is what Blackfield is about.

Eh, the first album is my least favourite.

Each to their own, I reckon alot of people here would say it was their favourite though. I'm pretty keen on all 3 though.

The first is the best, or well at least out of the first two.
It's hard to rank Welcome to my DNA next to the other two after just a few spins, but the first is better then the second by quite a bit.

Did anyone get arrested? I imagine some pant-less shenanigans took place in and outside of the venue.

Actually on first album SW has credit only on two songs which are Blackfield and Lullaby. And Lullaby is kind of a B-Side from In Absentia.
And on second album SW has credit only on three songs Once, Christenings and My Gift Of Silence and Christenings is also just a B-Side from Deadwing so that means that SW was never writing very much for Blackfield with full credit. But I think that there is some collaboration from SW's side even if the song is credited to Geffen. You know that "you wrote majority of it so let it be your song" kind of thing.

I did a full runthru of their discography.  I give the second album 10/10, the first 8.5/10, and the third 7/10.  Will keep listening but I think I'm probably more of a PT guy at the moment.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Waving is a good song, I enjoy it, but the video is godamn awful and now impregnates my brain with horrible images every time I listen to it.

Rising Of The Tide is hands down the best song of WTMD.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

Alright, I'm listening to this album now, and I'm really really REALLY sad that the only lyrics on "Go to Hell" are "Fuck you all, fuck you" and "go to hell," especially since the music underneath is really good.

EDIT: Okay, the run from Rising of the Tide to Far Away is really good.  If the rest of this album is this consistently good I'll be happy.

some of these songs are growing on me, but the lyrics are so bad, ugh

I agree with SDN that the Rising of the Tide/Waving/Far Away run is the strongest part of the album.

I really like the lyrics to DNA and Far Away. The other songs either don't do much for me (Oxygen, On The Plane) or I don't really pay attention to them.

And even though everyone is all frazzled about Go To Hell, the lyrics no longer bother me. Not good by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't really even think of them as "lyrics". Same thing with Blood really.

Okay, with the exception of "Go to Hell," this is actually a pretty good album.  Maybe not as strong as the first two, but its a respectable addition.  Going to be listening again soon, of course, but that's my first impression.

I love the music of 'Go To Hell' to and was also a bit confused as to why the lyrics were so rubbish, but at the gig the other night Aviv said 'I'd like to dedicate this song to my parents' then launched into it, so it makes a bit more sense now, it's actually about something that's happened between him and his parents which makes it more acceptable and personal to me. I do wonder what happened, though... it's a pretty strong statement.

Anyone know the whole 'story' of the album yet, if there is one? I can't pick up on anything past, y'know, DNA being featured a lot...
