Just so you guys know, definitely try asking attendants after the show if the band are meeting people upstairs afterwards. I've been to a few shows at Shepherd's Bush and this has happened a few times (I MET TED FROM SCRUBS) so I'm hoping I'll get to meet SW and assault him with fanboyism.

Glass House would be so much better if it didn't have that guitar bit after every single verse. It kills the flow of the song for me.

The most interesting thing about Blackfield reviews - especially this new one - is that everyone always assumes Steven Wilson is responsible for everything. I just read one comment on RYM where the guy was talking about how bad SW's lyrics are, and how finally there's an SW album he doesn't like.

But the fact of the matter, at least how I understand it, is that Blackfield is more of an Aviv Geffen thing. For WtMDNA, he composed all but one song. SW is important, but he shouldn't be getting all the credit or all the blame.

Was that Vaxis? He seems to have everything that's become popular these days. :lol His review and a couple of others also seem to bitch about the lyrics purely based on those in Go To Hell.

Well his actually isn't so bad! But the guy above him, Razor45, is like, "Who needs to go to hell Steven?"

Why does everyone assume that Blackfield is code for Steven Wilson? Geffen is definitely the mastermind. I'm not trying to blame Geffen if the new album sucks, the ignorance just shocks me.

Even though I love SW to bits, the mastermind in Blackfield has always been Aviv.
SW sure writes some songs here, some lyrics there, and puts his finishing touches to make it even better, but Aviv really is a genius.

Blackfield, to me, is just an amazing collection of heartbreak songs and some other cool songs, but nowhere near as profound as PT.

I feel like the first album was a bit more of a collaboration, but the last two records have been mostly Geffen. Especially this one, where SW only wrote ONE song... I don't know how anyone can blame him for not liking the album.  :lol

I just think it's funny that Waving is easily the best song on the album (imo) and it's the only song SW got writing credit for. :lol

I swear I'm not trolling but that was a really bad review.

You spent almost half the article incessantly questioning the band's existence and then pretty much threw out the lyrics as all being shit because of "Go to Hell"

The lyrics on this album are some of their best, and even the music on GTH is amazing. It's certainly not cringe worthy at all (musically).

Maybe you need to listen again, but they certainly don't deserve a review like that.

Maybe I just have a different opinion to you which I gave my reasons for in the review.

I did not question the band's existence at all, I said that to an outsider it may be hard to judge why they are about. You have to remember that 90% of the people who use our site will never have heard of Blackfield before in all possibility so a substantial section about the band is completely necessary. Also I used GTH as an example of poor lyrics because they lyrics on the song are shit and nowhere did I say that the lyrics on all the tracks were shit, just that they weren't anything special.

You're welcome to say that my review expresses a shit opinion but don't come here and start talking as if I haven't done my job properly, I really don't appreciate it. I'm a massive fan of almost everything SW has touched over the years so talking as if I'm just trying to unfairly bash the band is false as well as somewhat pathetic.
