US played their best game so far, Germany just wasn't up to snuff. The penalty kick was bogus though, that should have been a free kick.

You're probably right, Japan look really good. Saw some of their game against Netherlands I think, and they have a lot of skill and class. But we've been building some momentum, so you never know.

I am 48 years old and been playing/watching soccer since I was 4. I thought I saw everything. But yes that was brutal. England outplayed Japan. I played center back and that is one of the toughest balls to defense against. I had my share of own goal playing that position on similar plays. Brutal is an understatement given the timing and importance of the match.

Really pleased for England to have managed 3rd place - the loss against Japan was so unlucky as they were the better side in the second half and really should have won.

Should be an interesting final - I'll be rooting for USA I think (not often I say that!).

The ref sucked balls though in that game. IMHO, especially given how rough the game had been up to that (and a lot of coming from the English side), giving a penalty kick for that foul was not warranted. Especially also because the English gal held the German one by the arm before.

Really? It's always amazing how differently two people can watch the same event.
I was sitting with some other people in a bar watching the game, and when she gave the first yellow card in the second half, we were all "She found her cards!!"

So after watching last season of Premier League, I think I may like Manchester City the most. I find myself liking their players more than other teams for the most part. I'll probably support them and some other teams this season and see what happens.
