Hi Everyone,

Welcome to 2011.

We're excited (and a little nervous) to announce that on April 6th we'll be playing at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Radio City is one of the most legendary and beautiful theaters in the world, so we feel pretty honored and lucky. It's like some sort of absurd daydream come true for us. Anyway, we'll be playing a bunch of new songs so we hope some of you can make it out that night. If you're interested in tickets, please go here. (pre-sale tickets are now sold out and tickets for the general public will go on sale Friday, January 7th).

Speaking of new songs...as we'd mentioned previously, our new album will be coming out sometime this spring. We're anxious to get it out there into the world and we'll have more details about it in the next few weeks.

Thanks for caring.

Love, Explosions

So who's excited? I definitely am!!

I really haven't paid EITS any attention in the last two years or so, but I'll definitely check it out.

I must admit that even though i have all their albums on my computer, i haven't listened to it that much.
The few songs i've heard have been really good though, so i'm really excited about the new album.
Personally i gotta be in a special mood to fully appreciate instrumental post-rock, so it's not really something i put on every day. :P

Hi Everyone,

We're pleased to announce that our fifth album will be coming out this April.  It has six songs and its called Take Care, Take Care, Take Care.  It was recorded on a pecan ranch in West Texas by our good friend and frequent collaborator John Congleton.  Esteban Rey did the artwork.  The music on it feels different than anything else we've done before and we're very excited for you to hear it.

Anyway, here is the track list:

1. Last Known Surroundings

2. Human Qualities

3. Trembling Hands

4. Be Comfortable, Creature

5. Postcard from 1952

6. Let Me Back In

And here are the release dates:

UK (April 18th)

Europe (April 25th)

US and Canada (April 26th)

Thanks for caring and we hope to see a lot of you this year.

Love,
Explosions

I hope Trembling Hands is beautiful, I love the title!

This will probably be great!  TEINACDP is my favorite, but the artwork from AOASIME really did it for me.  I've never really felt the urge to paint or draw, but the artwork for that album really makes me want to.

I have never heard these guys, listening to 'Your Hand in Mine' on youtube.  Really great stuff!  What's a good album to start with for these guys?

The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place (of which Your Hand In Mine is the final track) is an excellent place to start. All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone is also a solid choice. (the opening track, The Birth And Death Of The Day is arguably their strongest track).

But the new album would be perfect to start as well!

AOASIME is a better start than TEINACDP imo. It's more diversed and shows some very interesting sides of EITS. TEINACDP gets a bit samey after a while, although Your Hand In Mine and Memorial are excellent.

Kari, how samey is the new album compared to TEINACDP and AOASIME?  Both have great songs, but after a while it blends together in a bad way.

Oh, and just for the record, "The Only Moment We Were Alone" is their best song.

The new record is definitely more diverse. Download Trembling Hands from their site, it's a lot more energetic and upbeat, kind of like And So I Watch You From Afar but less heavy. I really like the new record.

And because of your reply to "The Birth And Death Of The Day is arguably their strongest track", I looked up the meaning of arguably and it turns out it's exactly the opposite of what I meant! :lol I meant to say that you can argue for it being their strongest track but you can do tghe same for others.

Well, the album is out now. I'm having a listen for the first time and it sounds great so far. "Last Known Surroundings" was fantastic.

New album is post-rock by numbers, sadly.

I'll probably check the new album out.
My opinions towards the band are kinda divided, on one hand I really dig individual songs by them, but listening to a full album can get kinda samey.

Postcard from 1952 and Be Comfortable, Creature are pretty awesome. I realize it's not like their previous albums but I still like it a lot though.

Also, I was commenting on the packaging of it. It's, as I said absolutely amazing.

Also, I listen to my share of post rock...
