I might be wrong here, but I get the impression that "Even Less" is both the conversation starter and the conversation stopper for Stupid Dream.

It's the one that wins every poll for best song. It's the one that's got a couple of different versions. It's the one Jordan Rudess covered. It's on a live DVD.

It's an amazing song, no doubt, but it's not amazing enough to be this unanimous a fan favorite from the album, I don't think. There's lots of other stuff on its level or, even, to me, even better, like "Pure Narcotic" and "A Smart Kid".

I'll go as far as to say that it's one of my least favorite.  I don't like the chorus, and I think the song spends too much time going nowhere.  



Pure Narcotic is a great pop tune, a real feel-good song  :D

Every album from TSMS to the present is so damn good that anyone could pick any 1-2 punch out of that stretch, and it would be hard to argue against it.  Really.  That is how damn consistent and great all of their material has been.

And I agree that, while a great song, "Even Less" is not the best song on SD; I probably like at least half of the songs on SD more than it.
