Dude, they are separate but equal. :D

Now see that's the problem, Senator Thurmond.  Inclusion is all we're asking.  They might not even score that high but it just seems sillier to not include them.

And there isn't too much of an interest in OSTs, but a few years ago there was no interest in Eisley or Indie music in general on the forum, and now look at us.  :P  Plus, there's nothing in the original post excluding them.

1. Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here
2. Jónsi - Go
3. The Pineapple Thief - Someone Here is Missing
4. Everything Everything - Man Alive
5. Pain of Salvation - Road Salt One
6. Pendulum - Immersion
7. Vampire Weekend - Contra
8. Pure Reason Revolution - Hammer and Anvil
9. Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit
10. Karkwa - Les Chemins de Verre

With the Inception OST not in and Shining - Blackjazz really close behind.

Hmm, two things I notice with my list:

1. I feel like Man Alive should be higher. This album is just ridiculously good.

2. Strangely, there is a lack of metal releases on that list... It's weird because this year has been fantastic for metal IMO. In fact, this has been a great year for music in general. I could've done a top 25 list easily.

Alright, I'm ready to post my list. Unfortunately I was only able to listen to 31 albums (that I can remember anyway; these 31 are in my library but there may have been others), but I still think it's a pretty solid list:

1) Haken - Aquarius
2) The Pineapple Thief - Someone Here is Missing
3) Echoes - Nature/Existence
4) Kaipa - In the Wake of Evolution
5) James LaBrie - Static Impulse
6) Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape
7) Spock's Beard - X
8) Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here
9) Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
10) Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Honourable Mentions:

Star One - Victims of the Modern Age
Periphery - Periphery
Mutiny Within - Mutiny Within

And here's the full list of albums I listened to this year:

Allen/Lande - The Showdown, Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here, Arcade Fire - The Suburbs, Avantasia - The Wicked Symphony, Avantasia - Angel of Babylon, Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare, Barren Earth - The Curse of the Red River, Blind Guardian - At the Edge of Time, Coheed and Cambria - Year of the Black Rainbow, Echoes - Nature/Existence, Haken - Aquarius, Ihsahn - After, In Mourning - Monolith, Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier, James LaBrie - Static Impulse, Kaipa - In the Wake of Evolution, Kamelot - Poetry for the Poisoned, Mutiny Within - Mutiny Within, Nevermore - The Obsidian Conspiracy, Orphaned Land - The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR, Pain of Salvation - Road Salt One, Periphery - Periphery, The Pineapple Thief - Someone Here is Missing, Poets of the Fall - Twilight Theater, Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape, Silent Call - Greed, Spock's Beard - X, Star One - Victims of the Modern Age, Vanden Plas - The Seraphic Clockwork, Wintersleep - New Inheritors, Wuthering Heights - Salt

You should check out the latest albums of Agalloch, Intronaut and Oceansize. Judging from you list I think they'd be up your alley.
on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

Believe me, there were all kinds of albums that I really wanted to listen to for 2010 that I never got the chance to. I'm sure I'll listen to them at some point though, it's just a matter of time and resources. *shrugs*

I listened once last year and I loved it, but for whatever reason I can never remember to tune in. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've remembered late on a Monday night and cursed myself for it. It is still on Monday evenings, right? What time exactly?

I'm not surprised to be the only one voting for the Classic Crime, but I am surprised that nobody else had Vanden Plas on their list.  It only made mine because I didn't have very many albums for the year...but I figured someone else must've liked it more than I did.

At least one person.  No?  Nobody?  High five?  Nobody?

Never mind.

Uh huh.  Sure.  You're just saying that to make me feel better.

And I'm really surprised that Static Impulse is leading the pack.  I thought it was good and all, but not #1 material.  Maybe since it's a DT side-project it has the advantage of a majority of DTFers picking it up.  Lunatic Soul seems to be suffering from the opposite phenomenon.

Well Riverside is pretty popular here, but frankly the first Lunatic Soul album had almost no push here and so the 2nd one naturally went by the wayside as well.
