2.   Ed Kowalczyk – Alive

That was an amazing album.  Very surprising after Live's last piece of crap.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

I didn't even know it existed until I randomly saw it in a Christian bookstore.  I was like WTF?  I stopped following Live years ago, but I'm really glad I checked this one out.  Every song is good, with an endless supply of catchy melodies.  He definitely brought back some magic from the 90's.

Listened to a lot of new artists (new for me) this year, but apparantly not too many new albums. Could only think of 8 albums.

1. Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here
2. Jónsi - Go
3. Pain of Salvation - Road Salt One
4. The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt
5. Ólafur Arnalds - ...And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness
6. 65daysofstatic - We Were Exploding Anyway
7. Villagers - Becoming a Jackal
8. Kamelot - Poetry for the Poisoned

TAC

Yeah the Accept cd blew me away.  I am a fan of TT Quick so I knew what Mark was capable of, but the cd surpassed all expectations for sure.  Looking forward to more material and hopefully something live.  Armored Saint is one of the most underated bands; but you know they are realiable for something kick ass each time around

It's up there because it's probably the most OWNED album, seeing this is DTF and all.  Probably 4 times as many people own (or downloaded) that album compared to say, Agalloch, which is hight because a few people rated it very high.

Something similar with Intronaut - 2/3rd of the points come from Sigz and I.  It's a hell of an album, but very few people here have checked it out so its going to languish.

It's far from a perfect system, but people are limited to what they are exposed to, and it makes sense that more people own that album since this is DTF.  It's racking up a lot of 6-10 places, and all those little bits add up.

I'll have to check to see if my friend gave me the new Intronaut, I'll try to aid it with some points. I really dug the new Agalloch on my second listen.

Yeah considering SI is a good album and this is a DT forum, it makes sense that it would do so well!

Great to see Haken managing number 5, not bad for a debut album! :D

It deserves to be there, it's fantastic.

Speaking of Intronaut, I just purchased Valley of Smoke yesterday just after seeing the name mentioned around here.  After one listen it's amazing metal which is right up my alley, great stuff.

Sorry to be a pain Nick but Dead Letter circus should have 17 points. I gave it ten and Lordzixor ranked it 3rd??

I still don't think it's a great album, but I had no idea PoS were still one of those bands people here still more or less rally behind.

I liked Intronaut but it didn't really stick with me.

I'm happiest with Anathema being so high. I remember making a thread about them on the last forum and it got 2 replies. Great too see that the new album is doing so well and gathering new fans.

The only problem with the new Anathema is that it's almost TOO positive on some fronts. (Everything for example)
The only song i don't really like that much would be Dreaming Light.

Aside from the first four tracks and "Coming Home," its really not.

The Suburbs needs more points.

No, all the people bitching about nothing (while still not making a best OST of 2010 poll) are being a pain. This was very helpful and a well spotted mistake! I somehow missed putting Lord's picks in and that is now fixed. And third gets 8 points so it'll have 18 points on the next update.

Excuse us for defending the music in album form we like, even though there's no rule in the original post explicitly banning them.  I'm sorry that those of us who liked an OST enough to be put into consideration for this poll are being such pains and burdens.

What would be the point of doing an OST of the year poll?  Not many people listen to OSTs.  There'd be almost no participation.  Hell, the only OST I listened to this year was the Scott Pilgrim Game's.  It wouldn't be much fun.  At least we could see where the Inception soundtrack (which a fair number of people seem to love this year) would rank compared to James LaBrie, Anathema, and the like.  I don't see why you're so adamant on resisting change especially when, as I said, nothing in the original post explicitly bans them.

It's something to keep in mind for next year, however I said they would not be allowed this year and so people should have posted lists in accordance with that instead of carrying on about it forever.

And the fact that no one actually made that poll, and that you said you really have no big interest in OSTs in general pretty much proves the point that it's NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL, and so people should not be acting like it's the end of the world.

Nobody's acting like it's the end of the world... It isn't that big of a deal indeed. But apparently it was that big of a deal to just allow them?

Did you see how upset some people were over this?

And they weren't allowed this year when it started, so end of story there. However as I've stated I will keep it in mind for next year.

I don't really see what a best OST of 2010 poll has to do with this, the point is to include them with other original releases, not segregate them.
