Help please!
« on: December 29, 2010, 10:04:09 AM »
Soooo... my cat is a dick and peed on my boyfriends cymbal bag. As far as I can tell it didn't get inside, but it smells :( I've washed it off and put it outside to hopefully take care of that part. Anyone know of a for sure way to get rid of nasty smells on cymbal bags? I'd rather not have my boyfriend find out if possible ha! I'm pretty sure he would notice if I just went and bought a new one.

LOL cats FTW!

Cat piss is pretty ponent stuff, not sure if you'll ever get the smell out, maybe soak it fo a few hours but then it would smell because it got wet.

Just buy him a new one and say its a present because the old one was getting a bit worn out.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Get a big enough bucket and soak the bag in hot water and vinegar...don't go easy on the vinegar, and please make sure you take the cymbals out of the bag. I'd soak it for at least a day or so.
And we're going through problems with one of our cats going to the bathroom anywhere but the litterbox. I'm starting to wonder why these animals are such popular pets.
Let me know how it the cymbal bag turns out.

Thanks for the tips! I'll try them out. Is there are particular way I should store the cymbal outside of the bag? I'm not really familiar with the needs of drum equipment, I'm a woodwind LOL

I don't think it would hurt the cymbals to just sit around a room the you don't use for a day, as long as they're not exposed to the elements.

Yeah, cover them in a dry blanket and the cymbals should be fine.
