New Groove is a fucking riff-fest extraordinaire.

I like the new EP quite a bit.

What do these guys sound like? Would you lump them together with bands like Protest the Hero and The Human Abstract?

They're like if PtH had a really ugly baby with Meshuggah.

It's been so long since I've bought these guys' debut album (and recently the EP), but I still haven't fully 'digested' the album. This is why I love Periphery!  :metal

Makes sense considering the fact that Periphery are much better then both PtH and Meshuggah.

Why do people say that, because they don't like growls? I mean, if you like growls, what exactly is wrong with them?

Imo, the growls are thin and weak, and the cleans are thin and whiny. Chris was a much better singer. if they would have kept him, I'd probably listen to Periphery a LOT more often.

I don't think Spencer is that bad. He's not really that good, either, but when I first heard his voice I just kinda thought to myself, "meh, it's kinda weird but it does sound like something someone would listen to.‘

spencer is now better than chris ever was. chris couldnt sing his cleans live at all, and spencer now can. casey as awesome, but doesnt want to tour or be in a band. so spencer is best choice for now

Plus he's really come a long ways from when he first started out. Anybody who thinks he can't growl should listen to Frak the Gods.
