Periphery is fucking awesome in every aspect. Stoked for their TWO new albums within the next year.

Yes, that's right. TWO new albums.

They were absolutely brilliant, probably my band of the weekend! And yeah, the vocals were incredible!

Same here, on a technical standpoint they were by far the best band I saw all weekend. I was in the que waiting for their signing, but came late and missed it. Luckily they walked right past me so I managed to say hey and shake their hands, really cool guys.

The Icarus Lives riff is the best riff in the universe.

I'll hopefully be seeing them in Cbus. I haven't seen them since before they even had Chris.

Demo material acquired on PC's say so.
Excellent.

also...I agree with the comment about the Icarus Lives "riffage" in that song....if you'd like a similar one that just jazzes you up go with Soilwork's  - Stabbing The Drama  (though there's not enough of the GREAT RIFF) you'll get the picture.

Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Happy Lives to you all.

According to their Facebook, they will be opening for DT in Albany and Philadelphia. I'm going to have to go to one of these from Ohio, now!

New fan signing in. I got the self-titled a few days ago and I'm loving it. Favorite tracks atm are: Insomnia, Letter Experiment, Icarus Lives!

I love the chorus of Insomnia btw. That and the intro riff of Icarus Lives are what hooked me into this band.

"We have some sad news to announce, unfortunately Tom Murphy has decided to leave the band:

"I'm sorry to announce that as of today I will no longer be playing bass for Periphery. I have had so many unforgettable experiences and have met so many wonderful people while playing with the band and just want to say thank you to all the fans for making that possible. I am leaving to pursue something new. If you are interested following up with me, feel free to add my personal page at facebook.com/tom.h.murphy.
-Tom"

We're very saddened by this but wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. Fortunately this will not effect our upcoming touring plans as Nolly from will be filling in on bass and Mark Holcomb will take up his position as full-time guitarist."

I'm wondering if there's some creative differences happening here, or if Misha's creative vision is getting in the way of anyone else contributing, as this is the second Periphery member to leave in a short time period.

my friend took a bass lesson with tom and he mentioned it was hard to stay in touch with his wife and friends and he had basically no income

This seems to be the most obvious answer. People [/i]really seem to overestimate how much bands like Periphery actually make. It's a LOT of time to spend from home for peanuts.

been listening to their album for the past few days. really really getting into it. i'm not usually into albums as heavy as this, but I don't remember getting into an album like this (excluding ADTOE) since Ghost Reveries. weird. suddenly getting back into Chimp Spanner as well, some nice DT Awake vibes in Supererogation!
