Plus Staind finally returned to their heaviness with yesterday's new album. Thank god.

And I would agree that The King Is Dead is a top ten album. That album really grows on you. Like, REALLY grows on you.
Hire me. I'm talentless but malleable.

Matt, you would call The King is Dead a top album from this year? I didn't think it was very good at all...

That album is fantastic!!

Agreed.  I didn't think it was THAT great when it came out, but I listened to it again over the summer and it really clicked for me.  Its just as good as Picaresque and Hazards, and just below The Crane Wife.

Oh, was it?  I lost track.  And the fact that the guy in charge of the 2011 release date thread refuses to keep it current doesn't help.

With so few releases on it, it should have been far easier to spot Static Impulse on 2010's calendar then.

:eek :eek  Sorry, man, I cannot agree with that.

The King Is Dead does have a few songs I really like, but it is easily my least favorite studio album of theirs, and considering what a strong year it has been for music, it doesn't have a prayer of making my top 10.

Derek Sherinian - Oceana
Devin Townsend - Ghost

Those two albums are miles ahead of anything else I've heard so far this year.

Edit:
Add Flaming Row - Elionore to that..
