Beirut - just a great interesting band that I thrashed this year.
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - bought both of his first two studio albums, and adding those to his other two, I listened to a lot of Stevie Ray this year.
Herbie Hancock - from my most recent jazz kick, HH was the artist I most consistently enjoyed. Empyrean Isles is a killer album, and Maiden Voyage and Headhunters are both very good too.
Allman Brothers Band - Finally went beyond just a Best Of and At Fillmore East, and am finding a lot more great material.
Sergei Rachmaninoff - pretty much every time I put on classical this year, I got on Rachmaninoff.

This year was a huge change for me in music taste. Couple of artists that spring to mind:

Thomas Dybdahl
Jeff Buckley
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Radiohead

Radiohead is the discovery of the year for me. Can't believe I never listened to them before. I already knew most of the rest but moved a lot from (prog)metal to post-rock, bit of folk and singer/songwriter stuff.
