Oh Holy Night with Charlie on vocals!
« on: December 24, 2010, 02:11:58 PM »
I dunno if it's already been posted, but Charlie Dominici posted a version of Oh Holy Night from when he was in DT on his facebook, so I figured I'd pass it along for anyone who didn't know.  Forgive me if this is old news, or in the wrong section.

I enjoy it pretty well, because I had no idea it even existed. :O

I think it's off of either the WDADU or I&W demos....
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Cool to hear a nice studio version, but it doesn't quite compare to James' version.

Is this the same one he posted last year? I'm guessing so, unless its a different take.

There were a bunch of takes recorded.  I know there were on one of the fanclub releases years ago (can't remember which year).  I don't believe any versions showed up on the Ytsejam releases, but I may be misremembering.  All told, I think there were about a dozen or so takes recorded.
