I didn't see anything about changing the name in their statement, but I also don't follow them closely.

Neither do I... I only saw it because Band-Maid is playing the same festival, so all those pages are going apeshit at the prospect of another US tour  :lol

Just been Googling a potential name change but I can't see anything.

Was trying to find the article I read, but it is possible that it was a incorrect reporting and the article is no longer available (it was a rolling stones article). The article was quoting the statement the band posted for the new year, but re-reading the statement it just says the band is going to be different without Taylor, nothing about a name.

Maybe Dave will both sing and play drums?

That won't happen full time. He's too important to them as their literal front man.

Yeah...I think they'd go the route of a hired gun for a while till they find a permanent replacement. I can't imagine Dave settling behind the kit permanently.

I could see Dave playing the drums in studio, and them just having a live drummer.  I would rather have a new full time member though.  I am glad they are continuing.

Yeah, that's what I meant...Dave can definitely handle studio work, but I think he needs to be up front for the live productions. Plus, doesn't he play guitar as well? (not a massive fan, but I find this specific story of interest)

I wouldn't call myself a fan, either, but I do know Dave always has his Gibson around his neck.

Josh Freese is probably a likely choice. He's been in the game for ages and knows the band well.

He has been doing a lot of touring with The Offspring and one or two more punk bands for the most part. He also was part of the Danny Elfman shows as well. But as you said, he has a lot of studio gigs as well.

I guess it depends if it's a session tour gig or as a permanent member in the band. Given he's a busy session drummer, it depends if he's willing to give that all up and commit to one band. In general he probably goes where the money and most exposure gets him and Foo Fighters definitely gives him the most exposure but maybe not the most payed gig atleast not at first.

New Song: Rescued

I was kind of distracted whilst listening but sounded good, as well as hard hitting.

Who’s playing drums???

I don't know but my guess would be Dave.

As for the song... appreciate its significance but a bit of a shrug for me.

That makes sense but is it supposed to be a mystery? Who will be their touring drummer!

It's a mystery for now.  But my guess is also that for this recording, it was probably Dave.

I thought the song was fine, not exceptional.

It sounds like Grohl. As soon as he went into that Everlong beat I figured it was him. Similar fills as well.

Song is OK, I like the direction more than the last couple of albums and am happy that they're making music again.

The song was kinda boring honestly and yea it's probably Dave playing drums.

I received the single today as a promo, and the information about the drummer is in the press release but it has an embargo until at least 2 weeks before the album release

So that confirms it’s not Grohl? If it was him I think they’d just come out and say that.

Apparently The Offspring have recruitd a new drummer Brandon Pertzborn previously from Suicidal Tendencies.

So Josh Freese.... atleast for the upcoming tour?

New song, Under You.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seok6lO1n-8&pp=ygUWZm9vIGZpZ2h0ZXJzIHVuZGVyIHlvdQ%3D%3D

I really dig the lyrics, they're deep and full of meaning, but wow, the clipping in that track is so bad it's almost too tough to listen to.

Awful, isn't it?

I found the track a bit, well, stock. But then I feel the same way about much of their output. Delighted they've pulled together and are continuing, though.
