Any fans?

https://giantskyband.bandcamp.com/album/giant-sky

Giant Sky is a side project of Erlend Aastad (and maybe others?) of the Norwegian Post Rock band Soup.

I've been listening to this Self-Titled debut album from 2021 of Giant Sky's over the last week, and am continually impressed and engaged by a lot of it.

It's dreamy, epic, soothing, trippy, with a lot of different kinds of instrumentation.

The vocals are a combination of male and female. the male singer almost sounds like Sufjan Stevens at times.

If you are looking for some recent music that maybe you missed in 2021 like myself, Giant Sky's debut album could be right up your alley like it is mine.

Giant Sky is indeed awesome. I love the emotion in their music.

Do you also enjoy Soup?

I checked out 1 of the Soup albums, Remedies, around the same time earlier this year, and remember liking it, but haven't gone back to it since.

I recall the difference was clearly their sound being more Post-Rock, which i enjoy a lot of.

Remedies is good but not their best IMO.

The previous two albums are really high quality with amazing melodies and emotions with a PT vibe. Anyway, I recommend you should check them out.

Very promising. I really enjoyed those first couple of listens of the album. I have the feeling that it might be even better than the first one which I already did enjoy a lot.

I've given Giant Sky II a couple of listenings and while I'm unsure how repeatedly I will listen to the whole record given its pace and length (almost 70 minutes), there definitely are some standouts.

Like on the 1st album, I love many of the textures they use. So dreamy/space-rock like.

That closing track "Seeds" is very majestic, cinematic and uplifting, like something out of a movie. It reminds me a little of things like Comforting Sounds from Mew or even a bit of The Frame from Oceansize.

Never got into Oceansize for some reason. I’m spinning the Mew album right now and I can see the similarity with giant sky although I feel like it’s less nostalgic than GS. Still enjoying the listen though. Another band that I feel is similar to both those bands is The Flaming Lips. At least, their last album.

I can follow The Flaming Lips, even though I'm not fan, mostly per I can't handle Wayne Coyne's voice.

But the whole NeoPsych thing I think Giant Sky shares with them and others.
