?

Nihil-Morari is generally considered the resident Zappa person.  I sent him a PM linking to this thread.

Edit: Damn, that was quick.

As it said in the comments (I didn't know it at first either, why does that man have such an amount of music?) it's from the Baby Snakes DVD. I gotta watch that more often, but as with all Zappa DVD's, there's a loooot going on, more than just music.

Wow cool. I just ordered this dvd the other day! Do you know anything about the zappa in Barcelona dvd?

Nihil-Morari

Yes, I've got that one too.

Apart from the fact that it is a bootleg (quality, especially video, isn't great) it's a jewel. Great band, great show, you have to like the late '80's work by Zappa, cause it is really different from, well, any other period in his music. But it is a great show!

brakkum

Definitely off of Baby Snakes. One of the more memorable moments from it, actually. Love it.

Nihil-Morari

I'm watching Baby Snakes right now. I must say that the Gas Mask rehearsals are great too. So much fun! Oh and of course the Poodle Lecture (Although the best version is on YCDTOSA). Too much fun stuff on this DVD.

SPNKr

Man look at him solo away for a while.

Are there any others you recomend? I have dub room and classic albums. Where is the best place to get bootleg shows? Where can I get 200 motels?

Nihil-Morari

Funny thing is, my favourite Zappa-related DVD is Zappa Plays Zappa.
I'm not too fond of the total-mandess DVD's like 200 motels or Baby Snakes.
The Dub Room special is my favourite actual Zappa DVD. I love the fact that it is more music than all of his others.
200 Motels is pretty widely available, I thought. I bought it (although it is a pirated version) in a normal CD store.

Oh, and for bootlegs, the best place to visit is Zappateers.

brakkum

200 Motels is pretty much out of print in any shape or form if I'm not mistaken, I believe the ZFT do not own the rights or something ludicrous like that. But I do love the movie and soundtrack.

Nihil-Morari

You do?
I gotta watch it again, the last time I saw it must've been over a year ago, but to me it was just a collection of randomness, and although I can handle that (I love the Uncle Meat album), the quality wasn't good either.
But like I said, I'll watch it again.

BTW, I'm pretty sure I've seen it in a record store in my hometown last week, I'll check it out.

EDIT: ZFT not owning right to something, how funny it that  :lol

I know! sounds totally bogus, but I just read something published on the Zappa website yesterday, Gail answered a bunch of questions, and I think she said that Warner owns the rights to 200 Motels.
