The last minute of SDOIT

:neverusethis:

:neverusethis:

I'd probably go with Zydar, or the outro in Take the Time. Or the intro of About to Crash. Agh there's so many actually!

However much of Intervals I could fit into the minute. Really, the whole "TRAPPED INSIDE THIS OTTERVARIUM" and the remaining time before that part.

Or some part of the Metropolis mid-song instrumental. Probably the last minute of it.

Or the intro to TCOT.

Oh the guitar solo at the end of Octavarium! And the unison bit in Blind Faith.

Forgot to say...

"I'm sick of all you hypocrites
holding me at bay
And I don't need your sympathy
to get me through the day
Seasons change and so can I
Hold on Boy, No time to cry
Untie these strings, I'm climbing down
I won't let them push me away"

Not even a full minute, but all I need to cum through my ears.

And also Scarred from 5:22 - 6:26. I know it's more than a minute, but I can't cut off Labrie's beautiful voice.

I'd also consider the last minute of the Metropolis instrumental and the last minute of The Ministry Of Lost Souls instrumental.

I would respond with a seal yelling "WHAAAAAAAAAALE!" in a similar fashion, but darn my image creating skills.

It would contain parts from the unison and outro of In the Name of God, something from The Wasteland in Trial of Tears and something from Beautiful Agony in ANTR.

Octavarium - First part of "Full Circle" | 13:55 - 14:55
The Count of Tuscany - "The chapel and the saaaaint! The soldiers and the wiiiine!" | 16:02 - 17:02
A Change of Seasons - "Oh come, let us adore him.." | 14:45 - 15:45
The Killing Hand - "REMEMBER!!!" | 2:19 - 3:19
The Mirror - "I'll never hurt you agaiaaiaaiaiaiaaaaannnnnnn!!!" | 4:50 - 5:50
Vacant | 1:00 - 2:00
A Nightmare to Remember - "I am endlessly falling.." | 6:14 - 7:14

And there are too many others, that just can't be put to justice in one small minute..

For srs, I would choose the ending to Lines in the Sand. I think it has everything, awesome JLB performance, amazing drum groove and smoking guitar, keyboards and bass.

You're all missing the obvious--MP's vocal part in ANTR.  ;)

In all seriousness, some really good ones getting thrown around. Two others that merit consideration IMO--the first minute of the TBOT solo and the Ministry of Lost souls outro (although that's not as effective without the buildup).

But yeah, those aside, the LTL F#, Killing Hand (LaTM) end, Razor's Edge solo, and various ITNOG parts are all right up there as well.
Yeah, I have no idea what the cakeless person in that analogy is meant to be eating. If he's got some sort of cake substitute, it should really have been worked into the narrative at some point. As it stands, the options are:

  • Hoard a cake just to stare blankly into its doughy edifice.
  • Make futile chewing motions with your mouth while starving to death.

What better encapsulates DT than the sexy sax at the end of Another Day?

Another Live live, in whichJordan plays a tasteful lead instead of the sexy sax.

I'd rather see the sexy sax. Especially in this fantasy song called Another Live.

Octavarium 8:46 - 9:46

I can't find a more perfect Dream Theater moment than that. It's not the most bombastic or climatic part of the song, but it sure is my favourite.

Uhhhh, hard to choose. There are few great "moments" for me:
ACoS part from my signature  ;D
Learning to live second part, when JLB hit the F#5
The Glass Prison intro
Part of The Razor's Edge from Octavarium
Surrounded - part when JLB singing high notes
...
...the years just pass like trains
I wave but they don't slow down...

The call and response section in The Glass Prision

That one section during The Inevitable Summer after the heavy riffing passage where JMX has a bit of a solo for about 5 seconds, then everybody comes in. What really catches my ear is JP's playing the chords and slowly "opens" his wah-wha on each one.

LtL and The Count outros

Man, there's so many...
So many things I think about,
When I look far away
Things I know, Things I wonder
Things I'd like to say...

The last minute of SDOIT

Sorry I wrote in the quote box...my response is below.  :)

This, but reading everyones responses there are so many great moments, I love the guitar solo in the middle of Good night Kiss...I do not know what minute...okay I tell a lie I went back and played it on my computer either 3.22 - 4.22 or 5.10 - 6.10
But also Hell's Kitchen 3.13 - 4.13 or The Spirit Carries on 2.50 - 3.50 (cut the end off sorry JP)  :)
